I have the idea to allow everyone vision of the Staff forum, but only allow Staff to post in it (like it is now).
This promotes user and staff collaboration. I know some believe members are irrelevant when making big decisions or decisions for the forum in general, but this is simply wrong. The members are the ones that endure the consequences so they should have the right to know what's going on and have the right for peaceful protest.
By the idea of peaceful protest that could come from the fact that members now know what can/could happen and they could offer a form of objection or agreement through PM or as a post in a new section to staff - one where members can post in a certain format i.e.
Code:
Title: (The same as the post in Staff)
[quote]Quote/Issue[/quote]
"Members opinion - expressing agreement/disagreement"
If you recall almost all flaming/anger outside of The Asylum that has ever been posted (and a lot in The Asylum relative to staff/the forum) have been about things Staff did that were drastic and that members didn't even expect
Overall,
- Make Staff visible to all
- Establish a sub-forum or a topic that can allow members to PM or post their opinions relative to the issues
Ultimately, this takes the great side of the Voting Forum by allowing a member voice, but keeping it tame. Staff still have the final word, but it will make decisions much easier to make without backlash as well as hopefully stop any ideas that seem good to staff, but the bulk of member opinions posted logically/reasonably disagreed with it.
This is thought with the mindset and proof that our staff throughout the years have not always been right and they never will be.
I forgot to add a poll, perhaps for the best. Someone that can could either add one for me otherwise up to that point simply post Agree/Disagree with reasoning behind said answer.
