bad maybe...compared to where you live, firebat......but some of us arent so arrogant to assume that a simple rural life (which is the norm worldwide) is considered unfavorable or hellish by those who live it.

of course theyd want more privileges......of course theyd like to have more money.....

but they dont have em, and a great many of them are happy living the way they are right now, seeing as how things are constantly improving (see above post)



and by the way... hong kong is part of china.....so movies from china=movies from hong kong.

but Hong Kong's is a distinct society. Hong Kong has same system as what it had been when it was part of Britain. Hong Kong people considers themselves "above" the mainlanders and thinks mainlanders have dirtied their city. Chinese people are racist to Chinese people. Some chinese proverb hahah.

Not to mention Hong Kong movies aren't in the same language as movies from mainland.

Separate society or not, in the eyes of beijing, theyre just part of china.

Likewise, immigrant chinese in the us are considered, by the brass in beijing, to be "theirs", as in belonging to the mainland.


Plus, hong kong isnt really a distinct society at all, when u take that approach. Westernization has left the place looking like the only thing separating it from the mainland is its language.....and even thats pushing it. most of southern china speaks cantonese.

hello all you people! there must be some missunerstanding. The famers have it worse because there is less social support for them now, during mao many deseases got defeated through a thorow injection campaign. But the globalizing government doesnt care for the peasents and workers anymore and only for the big investing corparations. Ofcourse the some farmers have their benefits from globalisation but there is still the problem of disease.

Depends the situation on the farmer actually, if farmer in mao's days only got the minimum and the surplus was sent to the government. Now the farmers keep whatever they grow.

Obviously you've done no research what so ever. Social and health support? Where? The state refused to listen to the peasants cries of starvation.

Millions and millions of farmers starved to death because of the Great Leap Forward. There was no health or social support. FACT. Please go research the Great Leap Forward before replying.

It's Mao's attempt at trying to industrialize everything by having a steel factory in everyone's back yard. Which produced useless steel, and because there was NO SOCIAL SUPPORT, the peasants died because they had no food (less people farming, and couldn't sell the steel.)

Anyone who studied China's history would know The Great Leap Forward.
