TNT = nono
ASUS = nono

Go for ATI or Geforce.
I'm saving up for a Geforce FX 5900 XT right now. Most 5900's cost $350+, but the XT is gonna cost $220 and it'll be much better than any of the other cards around the same price range. I don't think it's in stores yet though.

Geforce FX 5950 Ultra outperforms the 9800 Pro I think. I'm not entirely sure though. If the 5950 isn't already better, it will be when nvidia releases a driver that fixes the DX9 lag.

LMAO. Wow. Asus makes great cards for ATI and Nvidia.

Good cards are good for different people. For example, a good card for a 3.0ghz P4, 1gig of ram would be a 9800PRO. While that may not be a wise choice for someone with a 500mhz, and 128mb of ram.

So first of all what are your specs of your computer? And what is your budget?

ASUS, uses chips made by ati and nvidia, and their cards are great, I've used a few of their cards in the past.

right now I've got the hercules 9800 pro, and it can run anything I throw at it. However, before you get a graphics card, I highly recommend checking if your motherboard can support the card (as in your video card may be able to run at agp 8x, but your motherboard might only support up to 2x)

If you're cheap, go for saphire cards...and before you get a card, check the benchmarks, they're all over the net.

NVIDIA IS A BIG NONO! really big, unless you want to get off on 500 frames in quake and then have much fun in half life 2 :/ just search google for benchmark halflife 2 quake 3 3dmark03 and all that youll see

actually its not nvidia's hardware it was the drivers that was not done right, so they are remakeing drivers so that Nvidia graphics card will run more smoothly with with half life2

shader performance has merely been increased by forceware but dont take my words for invincible, last time i checked was when i bought my comp 4 months ago or so. oh and yeah drivers, nvidia released those drivers that would give a better output on 3dmark yet the performance was worse than it said (that was like in beginning of 2003) proves just how much they suck

The reason why ATI is on top of Nvidia right now is because ATI's cards have much better performence with DirectX 9 games while nVidia's do not.

its an unwinnable debate...its all based on opinion really, nvidia is great for smooth picture, ati is great for speed, like i said, you will NEVER get a non-biased oppinion on the matter
