Anyone know where I can find my WPM? Other than that gay Mavis Beacon typing crap?
Heh, we had to do that in 6th grade

you could always do it manually, by setting a timer for 1-5 mins, typing up a paragraph as many times as possible with as few errors as possible within those minutes, and then divide to find your wpm. (BTW, 1 "word" is 5 characters).

i also type faster than most people i know, pretty much everyone ive talked to on aim, etc....it gets annoying when someone cant type near fast enough to reply.(only happens with slow typers)

Fast enough =). My full typing speed is probibly twice the speed I usually type, but if I do that I usually end up making quite a few mistakes and typing faster than I can think =). I haven't actually clocked my speed for years.

What if there doing something else like, browsing the internet, watching tv, etc?

Here is how you can find out your WPM, I pulled this off of: http://www.turboread.com/wpm_faqs.htm

1. Count the number of words on three consecutive full lines of print. (For example, 33 words on three lines)

2. Divide this by 3 to give average words per line. (For example, 11 words per line)

3. Count the number of lines of print down the left hand side of the page. (For example, 40 lines of print)

4. Multiply the number of lines of print by the average words per line. (For example, 40 x 11 = 440 words per page)

5. Count the number of pages read in a known time period (For example, 6 pages)

6. Multiple the number of pages read by the words per page. The result is total words read. (For example 6 x 440 = 2640 words)

7. Divide the total words read by the time it took you to read them. (For example, 2640 ÷ 10 minutes = 264 words per minute)

8. The result is words per minute!

I dunno if thats handy or not... if you really think your WPM rate is a life-and-death difference.. then go for it. Heh.
