LMAO! Ofcourse Zaku is right, no cd-keys are stored inside storm.dll. Blizzard dudes would have to be really noobiez if they put as importatnt thingy as the 'copy protection' keys into a tiny dll file!
But Zaku, know that 'I know what im talking about people...' is an explanation that is not enough for most of ppl. That's why it is hard for them to believe you, and they just keep sayin their rubbish and gossips.
So where the cd-key i stored really?
In War III RoC it is stored in war3.mpq as the separate *.FON files. Fake font files in other words. And in other Bilzz games? Well think about it. Im sure that in mpq files, too. Where it is easier to hide a needle? In a tiny haystack such as dll file or a large data forest - mpq archive?
And finally: WTF is storm.dll for?
This is a Dynamically Linked Library that contains the MPQ archive handling routines. Compression, decompression, reading, writing, encypting, decrypting, listing, etc. Notice that all MPQ Editors require storm.dll to run. An MPQ Editor with the latest storm.dll release can edit all War3, Diablo and Starcraft game data archives.
