instead of "everyone run here, kill this guy, grab this item, give it to this NPC" over and over.
you should have things along the lines of "return to act 1 and do this: ______________(insert what you need to do"
or maybe have it where...say you want to open a portal to someplace (lets use the portal to Act IV in D2) instead of just beating meph and it opens...you should have to beat meph, then hit a switch at the same time someone else hits a switch (and the second switch would be located ina totaly different part of the act)
of corse that would only be viable in multiplayer...but still...i like the idea.

on another note: the items droped from enimies should be USED by the enemy. i know everyone must have thought this at one time or another: "...why didnt that cow use the 2xx damage bow he droped...he woulda beat me"
