Me personally I am an Alcoholic... Yet I hate and can't stand alcoholics.

a "friend" of mine turned her life around and recently has been back sliding. But this weekend she basically she threw everything away.... I had to wash my hands of the situation and just give up.

It's sad but sometimes there's just nothing more you can do to help someone who doesn't want help.

This is a true story (odd for me on this forum).

Agree with my logic? Should I keep trying to help?

How can you help an alcoholic if you're an alcoholic yourself?

Recovering is not easy, but it's definitely possible. Getting professional help and support from loving family and friends make a huge difference.

That's a good point. This "friend" of mine is always asking for support and help. But it's just becoming too much.

Now it's not help with drinking that my friend is asking for, its just venting, help with car, borrow money here and there.

Since I'm an alcoholic I don't say "You shouldn't drink." But the fact that my friend drinks and becomes belligerent is a reason why I just don't want anything to do with this person.
