This is retarded in ma opionion. I mean, their pretty much saying that teens self-esteem is so low that we have to model ourselves after artists apearing in MTV. of course the taxes on cigarettes are so high that they fund our government nicely. What do you think about these "STAND!" people.

well alot of teens are stupid, and mimick tv and such, but where exactly is free speech? this is complete bullshit. people can put what they want on tv, if you dont like it dont watch it, if you dont want kids watchin it dont let them. with good parenting it makes no difference. bad kids come from bad parents that want to push the blame on someone else, and this is infringing on other peoples rights.

Thats a bunch of crap i feel 0 percent sorrow for people who die from cancer from smoking or people stupid enuff to smoke. Its there decision to smoke, its not the commericials they watch, its not the stars they see smoking, and its not there friends smoking. THEY make the choice, and claiming its hard to quit is hillarious, i use to smoke for alot of years i quit easily, i think its to easy for people to try and quit and just give up so they feel good about themsevels then actually quitting.

i was addicited to methadone for a good 3 months forged i think i know enuff about addiction to know that its possible to stop if you want to. i havent' seen any of my friends who quit smoking not be able to eat or stop shaking for a week cuz of cigs

firstly, dust has probaly never smoked or EVER been adicted to anything, i havent but i do know how hard it is... and i do feel sorry for people who have cancer because they are mostly adults and were ADVISED by doctors to smoke it (relieves stress) back then and now there hooked they cant realy quit so easy.I dont think its MTV's fault its all the friends encouraging there friends to smoke most kids do it, too much peer-pressure for a 14 yr old. amartin why does porn come on after 10? i dont realy think its counts for TV. a lot of people do mimic TV but mostly comedy programs.. im sorta sick of that stuff "did u watch little britain?" u say "yes"then they repeat the whole thing like you havent heard it =/

If you had any common sence you'd know that to some people its harder and to others its easier, not everyones body reacts the exact same way or they'd of found a universal way to treat the addiction phase by now.

Listen, for some, it's easy to quit. For others, it's extremely addictive. I've smoked for 2 years now, and I've quit twice, for months at a time. My mother has tried quitting dozens of times. Patches, drugs, hell, even hypnosis, but has never been able to. For me, it's easy to quit, for her, it's not.

Methadone, once seen as the safe drug to help addicts kick the habit, is now killing more people in Denmark than heroin itself, a survey shows.

Poisoning by methadone, a synthetic narcotic, was blamed for the deaths of 47 people in 2002 against 36 who died from heroin overdoses, the survey in Nordisk Rettsmedisin shows, a Scandinavian legal medicine review.

The drug, popularised some three decades ago, is prescribed by doctors as a controlled substitute for heroin users in detox programs.

Its resale value on the illegal circuit has soared, with addicts buying from other addicts in what has caused a worrisome increase in methadone accidents, the forensic pathologists said.

Researchers Sys Stybe Johansen and Anni Steetoft of the Legal Medicine Institute in Copenhagen found that overall deaths blamed on heroin and morphine had decreased by 33 per cent since 1996 while those blamed on methadone had increased in the same proportion.

The latest police statistics by Denmark's national police meanwhile saw a slight drop last year in deaths from drug overdoses of any kind, at 252 against 258 in 2001 and 140 in 1987.

Denmark, which has some 14,000 drug addicts according to official estimates, most living in the capital region, has one of Europe's highest death rates due to drug consumption.

Aruging about whether or not i've done methadone is pointless, i know i have i know what it felt like i knew how i got sick offa it once or twice and i know i'll prolly never do again because its difficult to get. I could just as easlily argue with you about your statment on ur mom smoking for 20 years but like i said its pointless.

And what are the statistics you posted suppose to prove other then methadone is deadly in the hands of morons, and difficult to get?

people go on about free speech for the tobacco person and yet the same doesn't apply to the kids who didn't want the advertisments on there. THey did what was perfectly within their rights to do. i say good on them. I love to see people stand up for what they believe in. Honestly i would say the same about people who fought to get something i disagreed with onto tv.

i agree with a few points in here but not many. ive been smoking for 7 years now (since i was 12) and i have a hard time lasting through school without them. your talking about shaking and cant eating, no...thats not my reaction. when i havent had a cigarette in about an hour or so, i get really cranky and bent out of shape. thats why every day after school i feel like im about to kill someone.
