it would be too hard to play Halo on the DS-

what analog controller the PSP does have makes a huge difference in game play-
i have the psp with Untold Legends, and the game is basically Diablo- with a FEW changes. it would feel right using just regular buttons. Halo would prob work better on the PSP
i know the DS has the touchscreen, and that will help for 1st-person shooters, but it wouldnt feel right.

You're all talking about games that have already been on PS and PS2. Nintendo went with something original here, and everyone is taking the standard 'Oh! It's different! We're afraid!' You're just not admitting it to yourselves. At least Nintendo is trying to do something different.

Anywho, there is a shooter for DS, Metroid: Hunters. I've played it, and it has surprisingly smooth control. You would think that with the touch pad it would be awkward, but it isn't. And DS is getting a Castlevania game soon. Instead of just using spells with a set range, spread, etc., you get to draw it on the screen. I'm sure they're going to have some form of power compensation if you draw a normally small but powerful spell really huge and vice versa, though. But still, it adds a whole lot more control to spell casting.

GTA is a monster franchise. It's sold the most games every week since its release except for the past month where Gran Turismo 4 dethroned it. Now it's number 2.

OK, I hated the DS so much. I had one and returned it back. Hw you ask? It gave me "seizures"....thats what I told them at Best Buy :)

The PSP is a God send. With a 1GB memory stick I have 8 full length movies. Four of them are hot girl on girl pornos which I charge kids at my school to watch. Its an all boys school so almost everyone wants to watch that stuff.
PSP holds music, movies, games, and WiFi online play. DS has....a touch screen which is a nuisence (spelling?) at most though I must admit Picto chat and wario ware are cool.
My vote: PSP!

typical lack of knowledge. Everythign the PSP does the Nintendo DS does. Both sYSTEMS HAVE WIFI the exac same configuration. I am tired of people saying psp has it and ds just has a touch screen. Plus ALL DS games can be played off one cartridge. something like 16 ppl can play with wireless on one cartridge.

Also the DS has an adapter, which allows both movies and music to be played on the Nintendo DS. the PSP is a fine system, but it is incredibly bad manufacturing, and has been thrown together to appeal to the casual gamer which only cares aobut quick easy games with good graphics.

And if we are going to compare, the DS has an amazing sound system. the PSP has a shit sound system, that only sounds good if you use headphones. otherwise the PSP measly speaker is complete shit to listen to anything.

In comparison Touchscreen has incredible controls for a FPS compared to the PSP's analog.

the playstation portable is aesthetically better. it is elegant while the DS is bulky. currently the games out for the DS are subpar when compared to the PSP (though the PSP games haven't been superb thus far either).

The DS seems to be more gimmick. I have yet to see that touch screen thing actually do something useful.

The PSP has dumb abilities as well such as the video player? why would you want to have a video player on a 2 inch screen but i guess its inclusion is never a bad thing.
a preferable and more useful tool would probably be a camera or even a cell phone (though i take it n gage wasn't a popular idea)

the ability to play music but the proprietary format.... gives an "eh" but this is one of the most appealing apsectis of the PSP.

other crtiicisms of the PSP include the sticky button, dead pixels and poping of UMDs, but i hope optimistically that these would be resolved quickly.

the low battery life isn't that "low"

also, the PSP is better in specs.

PSP>DS any day, nintendo, i predict sadly will die with this final blow. before they relied on the handheld and survived (unlike sega which died a miserable death) bu tnow the handheld market is being handed over to Sony...

I like the psp and it is rechargeable for those of you that said it wasnt, if i read right, also i havent read the whole forum but the psp has a chance of "dead pixels" for those of you that dont no that is a pixel that doesnt show any color, it is very small and somewhat anoyying for some peoples, but my friend told me that you can call sony and tell them about the pixels and get a new psp with no dead ones i think it was soemthing along those lines.
