This is what it looks like when a former hum player comes back from a 8 month break and plays orc. I'm the orc on with the hum ally.

I'm curious as to what I should do to improve my build order. I wasn't even trying to micro after the first 5 or 6 minutes which is quite obvious. I didn't even make control groups in this match.

I am badass with orc, I can probably help you with that.

I usually do Grubby's order, which is pretty efficient.

  • 4 Peon on Gold, 1 builds altar.
  • Build 2 peons at Great Hall, first one done builds Burrow.
  • Fill the mine, then at 180 gold make barracks, send peons that finish burrow and altar on wood.
  • Get hero at altar, one grunt from Barracks, build 2nd burrow if you can
    (Along the way getting peons of course)
  • At 180 Wood, tech to stronghold, then get a War mill and Voodoo Lounge while constructing.

You should probably have 5-8 peons on wood by this point. Its a good tech order.
Afterwards, you do as you please. But you should try to harass and/or pin enemy down with offense.
Orc is a race that needs to get the better units before they do.

So basically keep doing what I've been doing.

I've been working on a DR ghoul rush with UD. I use the BO of

2 acos to mine
Que 2 acos
1 aco summons zig then crypt then sent to mine
Que another aco
5th aco summons altar
que up 2 ghouls
Summon zig
Summon shop
When altar is almost finished I send a ghouls to get the DR

After that I start making a bunch of ghouls so my tech is late.

Do you know of one that would be better?

You are in luck, I may still have some viewable replays when I Ated with Panitude. He did panda/lich and ghouls while I was support with grunts and raiders and other things.

Argh for me orcs is THE WORST RACE.....I Always lose with orcs.....UD then NE yes they rock considering that hey have the same mining style...

A tavern run is really just cutting out the wait for a hero by getting an instant one when the time comes. But most of them aren't as effective as one thinks, especially a problem in team games where the Tavern is too far away from a player (Sunken Temple)
