Zy-el Maphack Installation​

This guide will show you how to setup the maphack that will operate on Diablo II's Zy-el modification. Although the maphack program is simple to run, the game has been programmed in a way that certian things need to be modified.

WARNING: As a rule of thumb, it is recommended that you try not to use this program on D2M, as Watchdog as the power to pick it up should the server go offline and you are still connected to it.

Mousepad​

Mousepad is the most basic Maphack program you can find. It doesn't have the Reveal Act feature that Stings does, nor does it have the easy to use GUI that C3PO has, but it is compatiable with 1.09d. Modifying the options behind it will take reading the FAQ html page, and learning how to modify the fields inside Notepad (but it isn't too difficult if you know what you are doing).

Why use this?​

Besides being able to reveal the act and changing your light radius to 255, this maphack has a strategical advantage. For starters, monsters will appear as Xs on your map. This will allow you to see what's ahead, normal or unique monsters. When programmed, it could display what buffs a unique monster has. It can also display which Level the monster is, so you know if you can take them or you should back off. So whether you are just MFing, rushing thru quests, or need to commit mass genocide against all monsters in the area, the Maphack has a use for everyone.

As I said earlier, this is one of those games where Maphack doesn't work just right off the bat. There are some modifications you need to make with 1-2 files before you can get it to work. The main culprit behind this game's misfunctionality is Plugy.

• Download Mousepad 4.7j from this site. Extract it's contents to the Zy-el directory.
• If you have installed D2Loader, you will need to make one modification to the exe. Take the file you use to run it (the actual file or a shortcut for it) and right click on it, select Properties. Change the Target field to display this:
  
  
  
  This will change the name of your application to Diablo II (by default, D2Loader displays D2Loader than a timestamp of when you ran the program). Mousepad needs the title to be displayed as "Diablo II" in order to pick up on the process.
• Download the Plugy.ini. Move the file to the Zy-el directory where Plugy.dll is. This file provides options to Plugy.
• Open the file with Notepad. And go to this area:

• Change ActiveNewStatsInterface to 0. This will turn off a feature in Zy-el that shows a summary of your buffs when you open the Character screen (the arrow keys cycle). The reason you must turn this off is the game will crash if you open your Character Screen while Maphack is on. The space where the arrows should be is where the Magic Find %s are displayed.
• Change the AlwaysDisplayLifeAndManaValues to 0 as well. If you have this on and you try to Install/Update the Maphack, it won't recognize Diablo II and fail to boot. If you aren't a maphack user, this is a good thing to turn on as you will constantly be able to see your HP/Mana without hovering your pointer over them.
• Run Diablo II and Mousepad, click Install/Update on Mousepad while Diablo II is running. You should hear a chime sound with 0 popups if you pulled it off correctly.
