How do I keep my holy freeze merc alive against Mephisto?

Ok, I have this level 97 Holy Freeze Merc. He has a Cruel Giant PoleAxe, a Shaftstop, and a Steal Skull Casque. He's really worthless to me unless I can get some extra MF from his kills. He works good for Pindle. But, everytime I run Meph he runs right into Meph's orb and he's dead instantly. How do you guys keep you Merc alive against Meph.

P.S. My post count should be around 50. Is there anyway to fix that?

yeah if your a sorc teleport around so when he shoots the orb he misses because where ever u tele the merc will go

or be smart and give him some resists gear or use an act 1 or act 3 with cold.

I use a act5 merc, and he has res 75 and dies off meph, anyone know why!?

He uses: Ith Ist ( dont blame me for using a ith ), tals armour, stealskull.

they are a good set up, res, defence, ll, ml and ofcourse mf..

Why does he die? he userly die's in 1 - 2 iceballs hitting him and i cant save him!

that or he doesnt have enough ll, i noticed on act5 mercs, they need alot of ll, i used 15% on mines and it was fine, (15% u ask? BUGGED GEAR)

well just socket your gear with the 7ll/7ml/20 resist all jewl (wich you should be doing n e way since you have hacked items)

no... its actually 6/7/20 jewel, but its 8 from valor and 8 from gaze

well why dont you socket your items with it since its probly better then 4 ums
