Gaming Study (Help wanted) + free prize draw

Dear Gamer,

Have you ever played a game and suddenly realised it was 3am and you had played all night?

We are doing some ongoing psychological research about video/computer games and gamers. In the past psychologists tended to focus on mainly negative issues like aggression and addiction. However, as gamers ourselves we recognise that gaming is usually a very positive experience for most people.

See a recent article about some of our work

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/nottinghamshire/2939175.stm

Our latest study is about how you can lose track of time playing games, but we don’t think that this is necessarily always a bad thing. In many ways it is the same as getting absorbed by a good film or a book, with the added bonus that games are also interactive and often creative.

The first part of our time loss study was experimental but we found that playing games in a lab is not very much like playing games at home or with friends (doh!). So, this part of our study is about asking real life gamers to tell us about their real life experiences.

The attached link goes to a short online questionnaire (10 questions). If you have ever lost track of the time whilst playing games then you might want to take part. Anyone who takes part will be entered into a free draw with a chance to win a game of their choice (up to a max value of £50 or equivalent).

Take part in our study here http://ess.ntu.ac.uk/sutton/formfiles/xaa3woodrt/timeloss3.htm

Many thanks,

A most interesting survey. I took it, by the way ;)

You have to tell us what the study reveals :D

I have an interesting study for you:

Why do people feel the need to capitolize a "name" even when it is an s/n? I have my s/n as bamthedoc, lowercase "b". I did that for a reason as BAMtheDOC looked weird. Oh well. Cheers ;)
