Best crowd control sorc?

Now that I've got my ladder smiter under way, I need a char who can do some crowd management and also mfing. I'm considering a sorc, but can't decide on which element to focus on. They've all got their strengths and weaknesses, of course.

What do you all recommend?

i got a kick ass sorc setup that works for me very well, she is a hybrid but mainly a fire. She is hybrid with cold.

Just a suggestion.

I will give you my Sorc Setup. This sorc owns.

Stats:

then wut i did for those that are immune to fire i placed 1 to orb and 1 to cold masteries

You should use a total of 96 skills points for all the synergies and the skills listed above. With all skills quests completed and at lvl 84 you should have 96 skill points. Careful not to mess up when placing skills. It will affect ya big time. You might be wondering as to what to do with the left over skills, well thats entirely up to u. I placed them into inferno so that meteor gets an increase in "3% average fire damage per second per level.

Equipment:

Okay this equipment is a bit pricy, but you can play around with other times. This is what i use.

Armor: Up'd VMagi - UMed (Gives +skill, FCR, and when uped gives 800-1050 def, and if socketed with um will give you lots of resistance)

Amulet: Armagedon Fletch (I know that is very expensive so if you cant afford get a maras or tal ammy)

Charms: Well i have anniluhs and a sorc torch, No Fire GC's , but yes fire charms work as well

Notes:

With this sorc you will be able to kill by urself Andy, Mephisto, Countess* (You kill surrounding minions and merc kill countness), Summoner, Shenk, Pindle, Nithlitank (However its spelled), Duriess.

*It is recommended that you get urself a merc. I recommend using an Act 2 Defensive Merc. Concerning items:

eth stone 3000+ def

I do all the runs stated and have no problem doing them, except Nithlitank, that can be a bit hard (Just tele close to him and merc should bring him down if he immune to fire and cold). If you see that there is room for improvment, please tell me. Maybe I overlooked something :unsure: .

You may be wondering y there is barely no MF, well it does not matter. With this exact setup i have found many ist runes, elite uiques, sets, jewelry. Best I have ever found was a 1 light +37 life GC.

having such a weak orb on a sorc will be absolutely usless in hell.

if your shooting for crowd control, go hammerdin, insta kill for anything in the way.

basicly any cold sorc is best crowd controll since they freeze/slow

My Metor/Fireball Sorc decimates crowds, with a little assistance from my merc, full games of hell cows = gg cows.

My Setup is as follows:
33 skills (after gear) in Firebolt,Fireball,Meteor,Mastery = 11k fireballs, 21k meteors (no fire gc's)

Merc is wearing Eth Stone Dusk (3802 def), Delirium in a bone visage, bonehew (shael +amn)

The delirium does the work as it's wide array of spells fire off nice and often, while the merc's holy freeze aura slows everything down a bit. While he is up front attracting monster attention I bury him in showers of meteors and fireballs for anything that might wander my direction. As for fire immunes he does a great job of taking them out and the bonehew with the amn in it provides him with 7% leech. I found 7% to be a pretty good number as he doesnt die often, if you didnt have armor equal to mine I might reccomend two amns for twice the leech. Screenies Follow:

Note: delirium also WILL cause your merc to morph into a bone fetish from time to time if he gets hit, he's quite the conversation peice for people who haven't ever seen it before

Anyways, i swear by my delirium whatever hordes of monsters you happen to be fighting they turn and fight whatever is closest to them it also causes champions and unique monsters to fight their minions rather than concentrating on you and your party.

I just came back after quite some time and made my first ever lightning sorc. I must say that chain lightning can do some great damage so far at least, and it makes pindle shenk and that other act 5 guy :-/ easy!

Orber with chain lightning i had this set up and you can pretty much do some decent damg with these 2 skills enough to kill off anything +immunes it may take a few orbs but hey make ur right click orb and left click chain I do good and die only when i lag...

having a shael in your bonehew for your merc is basically usless, there jab is already fast enough.

for a cheaper merc than dniym described, go with act II NM freeze merc, give him a levi shell, dual amned bonehew, and vamp gaze. he should be able to withstand cows no problem at lvl 80.

well ill just say go with one of 3 chars, a good bow zon, a hammerdin or a godly orb sorc like myne that does 1.5k

Meteorb Sorc, all the way, laugh if you must. it has proven itself to me many times. I find that frozen orb is the most effective crown controller: it kills everyting in 1 or 2 shots. If you need to tackle anything it can't handle, a maxed and synergied Meteor will do the trick if you can time it properly.

Use a hammer din back in the old days, i owned with hammerdin pvp and pvm.
As for a sorc for a good control sorcerer i would pick Fire Sorc or ice.

I built a fireball sorc that also had access to Frozen Orb. However, I can use Meteor on the really tight groups and take a load of guys. It was a very effective crowd controller.

However, it was difficult to use her because I didn't really have the items to start her off. Until I made leaf out of a +2 Fireball staff >:.

when i used too play me and my friend did hell cow runs together with like 5 other people and i was blizz sorc doing like 3609-3909 dmg on blizz and he was a firewall and orb sorc he first did a orb then i did blizz and he did firewall and we owned all dem cows and i had a insight act 2 nm merc and he had same kind and we had too defend everyone else becuz they sucked sometimes i went with my bestfriend tiwiztedsix hes tight with me and he used awesome ownage hammerdin and me and justin went with him and we owned then i made a nl zealer he owned at lvl 77-84 and then i retired and he has courpsemourn that i got for free gimmershred and a bunch of other stuff but he owned pretty good doing like 1700-3900 and he owned with maxed out zeal, sacrifice, other thing forgot what it was called put 1 in smite, maxed out holy shield and i did holy shield first then switched back too the aura for zealers and put zeal as left click, but back too topic ok i would probably want too make a hydra and blizz sorc or hydra and orb sorc it might own or fball and blizz or fball and orb or fball and meteor
