For my new computer I need an AV. From personal experience, what do you think is the best one for me to get? I would rather like a free one, but I could also buy one if I should.

And Ill give you you a 1500 day serial

The best is Norton AntiVirus 2004 but its really hard to crack and cost $40 and the 10 monthly (Please tell me if im wrong). But if you asking to buy one get it.

The new Norton as a matter of fact is very nice...

From experience, either McAfee or Norton (McAfee is my personal favourite)

Norton is pretty good...although at times I have had a few trojans slip through it's scanning.

Overall I would say norton.

McAfee takes allot of resources, and slows down your computer (at least for me.)

from my experience norton sucks bad. there was a really famous trojan used by dozens of people a year ago and symantec took like... 2 months to pack it into an update.
and sicloan is correct, if you have a brain, usually you don't need anything but windows updates and not use internet explorer

Whats a good choice for another browser instead of IE?

I had Avast! for my old PC. I liked it. But should I keep Avast! or just buy Norton?

i use mozilla firebird. it is pretty much invulnerable, supports a lot of stuff. its very comfy and has the netscape interface which means it supports any kind of netscape browser plugins (for example for download managers). it has a popup blocker integrated and supports download pausing etc. wow thats pretty much advertising, anyway mozilla.org
