New patch is out

When you Alt+Left-click anywhere on the minimap, it makes a ping there, similar to what they have for WC3. It's great when you're trying to tell someone where to go, or look.

There's no sound to it. It just makes a green box that centers in on your minimap...

well yeah i've seen it (thinking too much of lotr maps where you ping the obs)

but so like how many places can you use it and when do you use it for your advantage?

You can use it whenever you want... you're not restricted in how many you can use, and it's great for pointing out to your allies you're under attack, or getting their attention somewhere while talking to them. Such as pointing out a key position, or alerting them that they're blocking your units somewhere.

It can be used on both melee and UMS.

I'm having a hard time accepting that you don't know what I'm talking about. I'm willing to bet you know what it is... just unfamiliar with the term "mini-map ping".

now about the right click rally point...

If you have a building selected and right-click somewhere (minimap included), your units will rally there. I don't find it useful at all... I keep bumping "r" before I click for a rally point anyway.

I really dislike right click rally point thing.
wc3 and sc have totally different gameplay, and Blizzard shouldn't have thought about adding that to sc. Since sc has much much faster gameplay, and wc3 is a game that you're basically poor for most of the game w/ 1 gold mine and 1 building to produce units. (correct me if i'm wrong)

I guess it's okay for Z, and maybe for P, not T imo.

the only problem i was going to have with this is that people could preview ums maps.. some things are supposed to be secret for a reason.. but thankfully they had enough foresight to not add ums preview

i think the patch ownz, and the "uses last folder you selected from" is the best of all of it.. i have the maps i play in a special folder, which i have to find and reselect every time i want to host a game.. i love this patch

Alas! I am unable to play SC any more.

Both my SC and BW CDs are scratched beyond repair. They will not start, and there were other problems to begin with. The patch would not load because SC was not recognized and could not be reinstalled again.

I will hang both SC and BW on my wall in rememberance of their many great hours of playing time.

A new map I aquired through HAX!!!

I saw a game on the game list while randomly browsing one day, and noticed that some people forgot to add a password to it.

By the time I went to join it, they had remade it with a pass. Naturally since the game name was "ds1", it wasn't too hard to guess their password...

It's a great map, I personally like it better than Lost Temple, however it's only 4 player. :-/

Minimap ping spam can get annoying. :/ Maybe there should have been a limit...

I was just wondering the same thing. If your allies can you where you minimap ping, then I can just 'spam' minimap ping and piss the shit out of them.
Definitely abusable.
