In your faq regarding module programming you made a reference to kazaa as a download site for visual studio. Well with all the anti piracy actions now taking place, is it really a good idea to do this? With that being said I suggest that you people download it off mirc (www.mirc.com). Using mirc, connect to undernet then do a search for warez. Most channels there will probably have a copy for you to download.

*If you have read this, please vote. Im wondering how safe you think kazaa is...

Nothing is safe anywhere. Anybody who wanted to track you could. They would bust your sorry ass, but they are more worried about the major distributors.

Lol that sux CuStOm-OwNaGe. I guess ill just wait to see how this mp3 piracy thing plays out. I wonder how much cooporation kazaa is giving these people. Are they giving them past logs of transfers? It would be horrible if this is not a bluff, and these music companies actually start taking every day users to court. Who knows this could be the start of an massive anti-piracy movement. Maybe irc will be next :(

I don't trust Kazaa anymore. I read in Maximum PC (July 2003 Pg. 12) that they have alot of Hybrid Viruses. Its sounds Scary as hell. It works by implanting into windows registry and then trys to turn off any things that resembles anti-virus protection and then on top of that it starts a keylogger. It infects the Kazaa's users entire Shard Documents Folder and e-mails infected files on its own to every one in ur address book. Then finally it either keeps going or it self destructs. This sounds like a hell of a virus.

[EDIT] The viruses name is "Frizzer" if you were wondering. It requires the user to open the file to activate it and lucky for us it has an uninstall command and that some Anti-virus programs that will uninstall it. The scary thing is it self updates by looking for instructions on IRC and and the web......

Just having Kazaa on your computer won't kill you, its when you start to downloading files is when you run into problems..... If you haven't noticed any problems with your computer odds are your probally do not have the Hybrid Virus but you never know.

Well, I scan my shared folder every week ( or every time I download a giant file ). I downloaded Visual C++ from Kazaa and so far it's been working great. Only problem is that there's no help files because you don't have the CD, but all the help you need is on Microsoft's MSDN website. BTW: If you're going to d/l Visual C++ from Kazaa, the filesize should be around 73,091 KB.

im fricken scared of the anti pvp movement. i mean i have like 800+ songs on my computer, and i let people download from me, but i updated kazaa the other day and i see this peer points shit and you have to pay $99 to have all your files converted to gold, were people can then download them and play them for a small fee. kazaa is going to suck soon, and im scared the music industry will take action against basic everyday users!

Ya, the problem with kazaa is that it has grown too popular for its own good. Now is probably a good time to switch over to one of the less known/enforced clients such as mirc. I really hope kazaa doesnt decide to screw over their clients and release all the transfer logs. :(

Get kazaa lite. It has no spyware, unlike kazaa. The RIAA is attacking alot of fire sharing programs, not just kazaa. So it's probably a better idea to usw IRC or something til this is cleared up. Go to www.boycott-riaa.com to learn how to block the ISP's the RIAA is using to track people down.

Unless you're downloading movies, large programs (not stupid shit like dirtbike 3d or something), or mp3's you'll be fine. The shit the RIAA is using acts like a kazaa user adn when you're downloading a file it cjecks your shared files. The new version of kazaa lite has a feature that allows you to turn off viewing of shared files, so you can share ally ou want and they can't look to see what you're sharing. Kazaa alreayd has tons of spyware in it anyways, so they already know what you have.
