How to (manually) spritify your zerg ground units [with burrow]

L

Laharl

First research/aquire "burrow". Set one drone aside and hotkey it to "1" (Control-1). Get the units you want spritified (For arguement's sake 12 hydras). Quickly do the following key presses.
u,1,control1,1.

I believe this works by giving Broodwar too many commands at once making the newly sprited units the properties of the burrowed drone (or other burrowed unit) thus allowing them to stack on top of each other, creating a hilarious affect.

Zerglings, defilers are a bit more complicated to do manually. Notice how the burrow faster? What you do is you start the exact same sequence above except in the middle of a move command.

That's all for now.

This is the zerg unit stacking method, not "spritify." Anyway, the effect is not hilarious at all when all of your hydralisks get wiped out by a single psionic storm.

Actually, it makes the unit into a sprite. That's the technical term, I do believe. Thank you.

The Hydralisks uses Hydralisk image data from the units, sprites, and flingy sections of the iscript, and stays as a unit. What happens is due to the latency of an on-line game, you can perfrom something known as the selection glitch. What it does is run valid commands for units that shouldn't be able to use it at that point in time. An example is the patched ability to morph Zerglings into Lurkers. What you do with this is give the Hydralisk the unburrow command before it completes burrowing because StarCraft uses the unburrow option from the Drone without actually running the commands for the Drone for a split second. It finishes the burrowing, but it is considered unburrowed. That's why when you mvoe it, it doesn't show an unburrowing animations. The iscript for the Hydralisk is telling it to be using the moving and idle animations. Since it doesn't consider it burrowed, it doesn't unburrow, but the property (I guess you could call it a property) of stacking remains because it was never told to unborrow and remove the stacked property. If it was only a sprite, you'd lose control of it, because all control and movement options and scripts are in the iscript unit section.

?????? idk but i dont thinkj that saying that you can morph lings into lurks and then just continuing is making a whole bunch of sense...see i was reading and then i came upon that statement that says "Zerglings to Lurkers" and i kinda payed more attention and it said something about hydras and some other stuff...
im sorry im slow but thats just the way i am...

It was the same as this, except you had a Hydralisk selected, and did the selection glitch with a Zergling and it morphed to a Lurker. I remember reading about it and hearing that if you did it on a Dark Templar and cacncelled the egg, it would unmorph to a Mutalisk but some of it's properties not affected by the morph would remain. Namely; permanent cloaking and the 100 shields every unit has (just they don't have the shield flag enabled except for Protoss units).

However, since I played StarCraft after patch 1.05, I have the 1.05 disc with the patched 1.05 exe. There is no way I can test this glitch unless I get an original unpatched disc version and copy the old .exe to somewhere safe. I also haven't been able to test the thing where you could move doodads (theoretically, just the sprite or the image of it, but I'm not sure) with triggers because I don't have an original .exe, :(.

it is awesome if u use it on zerglings theres like 50 claws lunging and the building just blows, its harder due to their faster burrow, but if u make them face north, they have to turn around to burrow, i rarely stack on melee, but its really useful on defence maps (like New Sunken D, and the such). yea but one storm and ure dead..

I played a phantom (UMS) game and beat everyone with a bunch of stacked hydras...

... nobody thought to storm them -.-

Basically it allows you to stack your units on each other. I made a mistake; it's actually giving it properties of a burrowed units. It's funny, I'll see if I can get you a pic. (It's exploiting latencity on b.net, doesn't work single player).

I have some replays from when I played, I can get an excellent picture right now.

EDIT: So far I found one where I own3d a guy with 12 SCVs. Someone killed the computer, then I killed the guy who killed the computer 30 seconds after, :D.

Edit:

I believe this may be the game where I told someone to procreate with my Hydralisks, does anyone heer recognize any of these screen-names? This was also one of the games where I was a twenty year old woman who had to re-adjust her bra every 5 minutes.

And here are some fun pictures of 120 Hydralisks walking around after having abused this glitch.

Bloody image limit. Ok, just press the links.

Some of the images have a lot of Overlords in them. Me and my friend RoboHippie (teal) maxed the map with Overlords once we got what we needed to build, and then held an international Overlord conference over brown's base so he wouldn't be able to click anything.

o i know how to stack units and stuff, and actually u can do it in single player, its just u have to be uberly-impossible fast at hitting buttons, but if u put it on extra high latency it really helps...

If you look at the times, you'll see that we owned Orange in about thirty seconds.

I wish I had taken screenshots in game. You could see from my supply count how few units I lost killing two people (3 or 4), and the awesome converastions our Overlords discussed at the conference. Remember; a good strategy is to get enough overlorsd to cover a large area, and when you have a group of 12 Hydralisks hotkeyed, right click on the minimap under the Overlorsd so they can't see them and suspect nothing.

I did this in another game but 6 Lurkers = 90 own3d stacked Hydralisks in 3 bloody seconds, :\
