Just ordered a brand new server, and the techs are currently moving everything over. There will be a small bit of downtime tomorrow or the day after (2-3 hours hopefully).

For all you server geeks, here's the stats:

Core 2 Duo 6600
4GB RAM
2x750 GB SATA
Unmettered 100mbit Bandwidth

And we have around 10 available IP addresses, so setting up dedicated game servers should be a cinch now.

Just a heads up :).

The last time I saw things, the database was roughly 2Gb (times 2 since there was a backup on the same server), plus a couple which were email servers.

What uses for 1.5Tb one could have I have no clue.*

One drive is probably going to be used for a parallel backup, along with the large drive sizes to allow for a much larger forum.

He's seemingly expecting the forum to become much larger, and needing regular updates, and quickly.

Just my newb speculation.

I refuse to post again until all these roll backs are finished. I posted those two spotlight threads twice now and they've been rolled back.

Alright. We're officially on the new server now. Should be a bit faster than before, and no more rollbacks (unless I screw something up). Enjoy!

Wouldn't 2x 150GB WD Raptors have been better, perhaps there wasn't an option for them?

Not much of a tech guy either but normal HDDs are 7,500 RPM while Raptors are 10,000 RPM ( hence the smaller maximum capacity of 150GB ) which means faster access to HDD.
