It is an utter travesty! They've pissed over the artwork in "DIGITAL REMASTERING" - all the detail is GONE - and they've redubbed/subbed it in both English and Japanese, with the most uninterested voice actors in history!!! Kaneda sounds GAY and Tetsuo sounds like a girl. Not to mention the Colonel sounds lily-livered, and the children have been injected with helium!!!

As you can tell, I don't like it

you're obiously into action and violence, i salute you sir.
you'd probably like berserk, ninja scroll or jin-roh, they're all extremely violent. neon genesis has its moments too.

i collect anime, so i've seen quite a bit

your right, the remastered version isn't as good as the original.
from what i've seen, it's hard to find an anime with good voice acting.
i buy DVDs so i can watch animes in japanese, for some reason the japanese voice actors put more emotion into their performance and hence they seem more believable

I own one anime DVD and that's Ranma, which I had to order from Belgium. My other 100 or so are on video tape, as I bought them before the advent of DVD. If you've never seen Akira on video, in the English dub you are certainly missing something.

First off, Cowboy Bebop is #1, not #5. Ive never really bothered to watch much of neon genesis evangelion, though Im planing on watching the series sometime. Wheres Gundam wing???? That is just sooooooo great, and you left it out!!! I personally love Trigun, but some don't, that ones been disputed. And wheres DragonBall??? I can see you leaving out DBZ and DBGT, but DB is just hilarious (as long as you watch the Japanese, not that English crap). And like people said, Perfect Blue diserves a spot. A agree with where you put Akira though. I dont see what was all that great about it (I thought it was good, but not great)

i watch dbz every day on tv, it's fun to watch
perfect blue is messed up! (when the killer sees her reflection and its not her own, oh yeah) thats why i like it. it's definately in my top 40
i really did like cowboy bebop, but i was so depressed by the way they ended it, i couldn't put it at #1
i never could get into gundam for some reason, maybe because the first anime i ever saw was robotech (not counting astro boy, THE HORROR!, the horror!) and i rate everything according to it.

i can't believe you didn't like jin-roh, placebo.
when the wolf brigade met up with the terrorists for the first time and mowed them down with those chain guns i was like "yeah! mess them up!!!!!!" god i love violence

has anyone else seen berserk?
i'm only up to episode 13, and by the way it's going it might well take over the #1 spot on my list
Gattsu is the most mentally, spiritually (and from what i hear later on physically) scarred anime character i have ever seen.
i know he's covered with scars from battle and i hear later on he cuts off his own left arm, and has an eye gouged out.

i'm proud to use him as my avatar.
