A Blizzard can be defined as, "an inordinately large amount all at one time; avalanche" and that’s exactly what Blizzard Entertainment does with their products. They are owned by Vivendi, and are a very accomplished developer in the gaming community, specifically for the PC.

Blizzard Entertainment was founded by Michael Morhaime, Allen Adham, and Frank Pearce in February 1991, and was originally known as 'Silicon & Synapse" and did not create their own games, but worked on created game ports, including "Battle Chess II: Chinese Chess" and "The Lost Vikings". In 1993, they changed their name to Chaos Studios for a brief time, and finally, became the world renowned Blizzard Entertainment.

Since that time, they have created tons of titles, but are most renowned for their efforts with the Diablo, StarCraft, and Warcraft series. They have dominated the PC market for years since then, and they show no sign of slowing down. They have dominated multiple aspects of the PC gaming market, including the RPG (role playing game), RTS (real time strategy), and MMO (massive multiplayer online) markets for over 10 years, beginning with Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, to the most popular PC game in history, World of Warcraft.

But warcraft isn't all they have worked on. They have created Diablo, DiabloII, DiabloII: Lord of destruction, StarCraft, and StarCraft Broodwar, in turn dominating 3 of the most popular game types for PC.

Blizzard has always created top quality games, and supported them as much as a gamer could ask. Including patches and updates for games pushing the 10 year mark. For instance, StarCraft was released in 1998, and to this day, they receive patches for their games, tyring to keep the community happy, and trying to make their games the best ones out there.

They show no signs of slowdown, with the recently announced StarCraft II coming out, they will destroy all competition. Blizzard knows what they're doing. There’s no denying the power blizzard has over the gaming community, for instance, they have not even announced a sequel to the hit game "Diablo II", there is still a fan base of -thousands- of members, anxiously awaiting the day there dream comes true and a sequel is announced.

Blizzard is known for their top quality games, and it is very obvious they are able to deliver what they promise, top notch, high quality, ground breaking games, and they will continue to do so for years to come.

Put on your winter coats and get to shelter, because the snowstorm is here, and it shows no signs of calming down.
