The Alpha Tester's Handbook
The object of this guide is to help you understand how to be a better alpha tester and improve the quality of your feedback. Since you are most likely not a programmer, you will not necessarily know what will help me make this program better. Read this manual carefully and follow the instructions, and you will prove yourself useful!
What You Should Expect
As you may or may not know, "alpha" testing is the very first round of testing. No one other than myself has run this program before you. You will be responsible for finding the large errors like "it doesn't run on XP" or "it crashes when loading this map." Don't expect this program to run smoothly - it won't. If you're expecting to use it right away to edit your maps, you shouldn't ask to be an alpha tester. Wait for the beta version instead. If my program damages your computer's software or hardware in any way, I am not responsible.
What I Expect
Now, down to the important part. What do you do when you find a problem? First, write down the error number and message (if any). Next, write down exactly what you did to create the error, then try to do it again. Finally, fill out the following information and contact me by e-mail, PM on blizzforums, AIM, MSN, or on B.Net.
Environment Info:
Operating System
RAM Available
Error Info:
Your description of what happened
Error number and message, if any
Was error reproducible?
What did you to to produce the error?
What map were you working on? (please attach it!)
You can contact me at ravenx609@hotmail.com (e-mail or MSN), JonnyOThan (AIM), or MM-Heimdal (B.Net)

Current status of StarForge
6-22-2003 Wrote all units and sprites adding, editing, and deleting functions. Small bug with memory allocation.
6-20-2003 Made a lot of progress on the unit settings window, including getting definite results on testing the 4 bytes that are used for HP. It's not quite finished yet, I'll finish it off tomorrow and it looks like everything will be pushed back 2 days. I also made a really nice control for adding color characters. You simply click the color you want and it adds it to the clipboard, so all you have to do is hit paste.
6-18-2003 Wasn't sure if I was going to be able to finish my assigned projects for today, but I did it! The new computer is blazing fast, but the speakers kind of suck
6-17-2003 Spent most of today trying to get my new computer to work. Finally got it around 2 AM on wednesday. It doesn't have the internet connected yet, so I'll be working up there without any distractions =) Progress, here I come!
6-17-2003 Polished off the MapSave function (I'll have to add more save modes later) and officially changed the name to StarForge
6-16-2003 Today I found and fixed an error in loading GRP files, and slightly improved rendering performance.
