Better DPS in Diablo III with stutter timing

A fan performed testing to find the most efficient method of attack. The test and resultant findings were based on animation vs. actual dps dealings. At least in the Beta of the game, the animation of attacks exceeds actually damage dealing by a fraction of a second. By canceling the animation after actually dealing the attack, the player can effectively improve their DPS (once again, at least in Beta). However, this tactic has been validated by some Blizzard employees, implying it was intentional and will remain in the final release.

It's an intentional mechanic, not an exploit or bug. Our intent is simply to make combat feel good and responsive, but the implementation to hit that goal in the closed beta build is actually quite old. It's likely you'll see changes within some future beta push that reflect more what we're testing now internally, but of course it's possible that won't be the final implementation either.

As the video shows, the best DPS seems to be achieved by stutter stepping.
