Ahh..memories. I'm sure everyone's heard of the Atari. I had one..

I thought there needed to be an Atari thread, so here it is. :rofl

If you had one, do you remember what games you had? Does anyone STILL have one?!! I think I may..somewhere in our garage...heh. I actually can't remember many of the games that were made for it.

Back in the day...I do however remember, that it was actually a fun console. Now...game systems have advanced dramatically *thank god*..but still...it was surely quite influential.

So yeah...post whatever you want about the Atari.[/rain]

I remember, my uncle had a system called Atari 5000, or something like that...it looked sort of like an Xbox but it was much bigger. I forgot the name as it was so long ago..in my childhood. I remember it was cool because I used to play DooM on it everyday of my life and back then, I considered DooM to be really scary!

''watch out, theres one around that corner!''

*checks*

''Ohh ****! *shots everywhere*''

Good times. Someone can probably tell me whatAtari system I'm talking about, too! Atari payed the way for my childhood gaming addiction, it sure did. :)

Jaguar rocks my socks :)

My favorite game for Atari is Surround for the Atari 2600. If you've ever seen the movie Tron, played the game Bloackade (UPL), or the game Snafu (Intellivision), you know how this is played.

Basically, it's two players with a small box that is constantly moving. You control which direction it's heading in, and the entire time you're leaving a trail behind you. Now, the trick is, you can't hit any walls, and you can't hit your trail or your opponent's trail. Whoever hits something first loses.

There are 14 different game modes, where you can be faced against a computer or in two-player mode. This game gets all its value from two-player mode, because the computer isn't challenging whatsoever. Once you're extremely skilled at it, one of the different gameplay modes involves both players constantly accelerating, the speed increasing until the point where it's only a matter of seconds before someone has to lose.

If you can get your hands on an Atari 2600, this game, and another person, you should. It's a really fun, addictive experience with a lot of replayability.

Wow, that's seriously cool. I can remember the day mine died, I tried everything to make it work again, including opening it up and splicing random stuff together. It actually ended up working again for maybe a week, and then died forever. To still have a working model with that many games must be incredibly awesome.

Wasn't there some form of 'duck hunt' game for the atari?? I remember some of my friends saying they mastered the game. While I don't think thats an acomplishment of man, thats still pretty cool. :)
