That is me holding a knife like a madman... I used my camera, then recorded the crystal screen using my webcam, desaturated each frame, imported the movie into flash, saved each frame into a .psd, put in a grungy blood layer and set the mode to "multiply". Added some random pictures (a Suicide from Orgish.com and John Wayne Gacy). Saved each frame yet again, imported all of them into Gif Construction Set 32. Bada beem, bada boom. Only took an hour and 45 minutes.
Used Lightwave to model this sucker, desaturated my rendering in CS, then added some effects. I want to find out how to use a custom unit maker for Starcraft. Might add this as the new Barracks.
Now for more colourful pictures...
Bring in the fireworks! (Some might recognise the techniques from good-tutorials.com)
