Setting/Changing the picture under your name (Avatar)

Unfortunately the current F.A.Q. does not show members how to add an avatar to their profile, this thread is to help all members that are still having trouble getting one up.

Once you have registered an account, click on the 'User CP' link at the top of any BattleForums page. There you'll be taken to a screen that displays your Buddy List, New Private Messages, Subscribed Forums, and Subscribed Threads. This page can be used to notify you of when new posts are made in threads you want to be notified of.

Moving on, click on the 'Edit Options' link just under where it should say:

Battle Forums > User Control Panel For (your account)

This should take you to a list of options you filled out when registering, where you can change your account settings like receiving e-mail notifications when someone has replied to your threads.

Scroll all the way to the bottom of that page, and you should see a button that says 'Change Avatar' just above the two buttons that say 'Submit Modifications' and 'Reset Fields'. click on the 'Change Avatar' button, and you'll be taken to another page that should let you upload your own graphics, or enter the URL of a image you have uploaded to a webserver.

When you've finished selecting the image, click 'Submit Modifications' and you should be returned to your User Control Panel. As long as you have at least 1 post on the forums, your Avatar will show up. You can follow this same procedure if you want to change your avatar as well. Changing your avatar will change it for all of your previous posts as well, so don't worry about finding your favorite right away. Most of us change ours every few months or so ;).

There are limitations on filesize and image size. If your image exceeds those limits, you should receive some error message when you click the 'Submit Modifications' button. Go back, and edit your image before trying again if this happens.

That should cover just about everything. If you have any further problems, please post them here and I'll try to respond to them as quickly as possible. Other forum members are also welcome to help out if I don't respond to a question right away.
