$800 PS3

Would you buy a Sony PS3 for $800? $800 is NOT the MSRP.

Sony held the PlayStation 3 close to its vest at CES, with only a few game trailers playing in a loop and a system mockup under glass. The only real details available are that Unreal Tournament 2007 and Metal Gear Solid 4 will be PlayStation 3 games, the system will play Blu-ray discs, and Sony is still sticking to the boomerang design. Rumors have circulated around the CES floor from certain manufacturers in the Blu-ray camp that the PS3 will cost as much as $800 and will be released in early 2007. Of course, these rumors were being spread by companies that are producing competing Blu-ray devices. Hopefully, Sony will reveal more details about its next-gen console at E3 in May.

Negative. The way that the prices are, it would have to retail at about 800$. And theres no sign that the Blu-Ray technology will be any lower by the time that it comes out.

But it wont be 800 for the fact that its a console, and no one would buy a console for 800 dollars.

And hell no would I buy a PS3 for 800. I might have a lot of money, but thats the reason I have a lot of money, I dont spend it on things that I know arent worth it. The most I would spend on a console is 400.

Negative. If you could buy a Playstations Blu-Ray player for 400$, when the actual players are 800-1000, which would you buy.

Exactally, they wouldn't buy the DVD players when they could get a PS3 that does the same for half price.

If it comes out before next year (07) then I guarentee you it will be approx 800$.

But then you have to invest a lot of money into the games, and not just movies which do not get near $65.00 + taxes.

I voted no. $800.00 is a lot of money to piss away on a console. I'd rather buy a computer that can do more for far less.

That doesn't make sense. Just because it's a game console, doesn't mean I have to buy games for it. There are plenty of people that will (if it's under 400$) buy it simply because it's got Blu-Ray technology.

Blu-Ray DVD players won't be 400 when they come out. They'll be easily 900+. If Sony releases the PS3 when it's rumored to come out (Late 2006) then they literally CAN'T sell it for under 800 because it has a Blu-Ray DVD player installed in it.

And PS3 will be $399.99. Sony manufactures their own hardware. plus they've always sold PlayStations at a loss.
