right im looking for something to help me stop my zerglings being blown up in one shot by either a terran seige tank or a protoss reaver.(not air units because i have to spend time taking out the air defences)

It involves 'Micro'ing your Zerglings. I think this map should give some practice, its not only Zerglings though.

well you cant do them clumped up.. you could send in waves of them so lings sneak under the tanks while they are firing. reavers can shoot very close to themselves though so spread out hydras are better... maybe lings to take up fire. generally lings are not good against splash damage unless they are a living sheild.

Spread up your lings before you attack a sieged tank or reaver so less of them will get destroyed. Try researching quicker lings too so even less will die.

flanking his tanks would be nice.(attack from 2 sides) a main zerg strat against terran is to flank whenever you attack. I'm not sure about reavers. Usually zerg uses zerglings as sacraficial lambs while hydras are dealing the real damage. guardians are great against both as well as mutas if you're dealing with reavers/tanks that are unsupported.
