Xbox Controller help

Hello everyone! I`m a newbie!! Problem.... I have a xbox controller for my pc but it wont work with my call of duty 5 game for pc. Can one of ya help me with a program that would allow me to use this with this game? I`m not the sharpest tack in the box when it comes to this stuff so pls bare with this old man. Hopefully there is a fix and it dosent cost anything too. Thanx to all I hope you all have a great 2009 god knows we all need it. Thanx again.

If it's a 360 controller and it's wired it will work if you just plug it in and get the proper file from the microsoft website.

If it's not, then I can't help you out. Wireless don't work without the reciever which is ~30$, and old XB1 controllers needed to be soldered.
