Sknr.net is reporting that the long-rumoured "World of Warcraft" movie has been announced.

At Blizzcon in Anaheim, Blizzard announced the film would be a live action film told from the Alliance point of view that would cover a twenty year gap and fill in some of the plot lines that exist between current episodes of the series.

The film was said to be an Epic adventure along the lines of “Braveheartâ€, “The 300â€, and “Gladiatorâ€.

No names or Director have been attached, but it was learned that current Superman Brandon Routh, has expressed interest in touring the company. Stay tuned for more information and updates from Blizzcon.

The film is currently a Warner Bros picture with a possible 2009 release.
Taken from here. I hope it doesn't suck :(

Legendary Pictures' Thomas Tull described the movie as "big," with a budget of over $100 million. "We're not gonna make some cheesy little.. I don't even know what a good example is," he said. Shouts of "Doom" erupted from the crowd. "I'm not gonna give any examples," Tull said after a laugh.

"We're shooting for 2009," Tull added, before handing the stage over to Blizzard creative director Chris Metzen, who immediately began to outline the direction of the project.

"Honestly, the story that we're running with at this point, we wanted it to be relevant to the experience of WoW players," Metzen said. "Not necessarily buried in thousands of years of continuity. We wanted it to be, well, recent. The story takes place about a year before WoW begins. You're likely to see a lot of races you've played, the lands you know. The story really is a number of main plot points kind of rolled into a really strong two, two and a half hour tale."
Two two and a half hour long movies? cool.

Yeah, hopefully it doesn't. You need to be extremely careful when you base movies off games.

That is like comparing a house to a skyscraper and asking a guy, "What's bigger?"

I love how everyone rages over how good 300 is. The movie was alright, but the only reason it was good, was because Frank Miller can sometimes be a ****ing genius when it comes to writing.

Usually, its the writing and directing that cane sometimes mean the difference between a good movie and a piece of shit.

When you're taking a movie pretty much panel for panel from one of the best graphic novels of all time, it's pretty hard to screw it up.

Unless you are the director who tried Eragon.

But that was text based.
