hellwolf actually got the true right answer, because since the type of egg was not specified, and we all know dinosaurs laid eggs, and chickens came later, the real question becomes: "Which came first: The Dinosaur, or the Egg?"

nobody knows what the hell came first. it could have been that some freak bird laid an egg and that freak bird in the egg happened to be a mutated freak bird which we'd consider a chicken. or it could be that over the life time of some past freak bird it changed during its lifetime and became what we would consider a chicken. either way nobody knows what came first.
however i think the egg idea has a higher possibility of happening.

since there is no answer i guess ill say that the egg must have come first from some other species of bird that was a norm of its species and by some freak of nature a couple chickens were made instead of the normal bird.... the real q is wut layed the other bird....

bacteria evolved into an organism which laid eggs and after millions of years an egg hatched and it changed and that process went over and over till chickens hatched. so the egg came first for chickens, but not for what evolved into chickens.
