Does this work with wireless routers?
I second that answer.Originally posted by DRaKHNiR
LMAO! This is quite a question, LOL. Ofcourse it does.
You are not disabling anything when you do this. REPEAT: You should not have to disable any software to get this to work.Originally posted by Zukas
will diabling my router thingy to host games let viruses in? i recenlty had to pay 200 bucks to rid my comp of like 30 viruses. i dont wanna go through that again. i have a cable connection if that makes any dif with the latency.
Isn't a hacker's attack a security issue? Generally I agree, but firewalls also block some type of trojans eg. NetBus, Prosiak, etc., that allow some malicious morons to eject your cds, move mouse, access file system and other stupid stuff.Originally posted by Aragorn7
Opening up ports on your router will not cause any security issues that I know of. BTW, viruses come from websites that YOU visit. Firewalls only block hackers from compromising your systems.
When you are forwarding ports, you are NOT taking down your firewall. You are just opening up the doors that WC3 uses to communicate with other players on WC3. The firewall is still there, except with this enabled, the hackers would have to attack your computer via that port with the correct IP address. They have to know quite a bit of info about your specific computer to hack your computer even with a single port opened up.Originally posted by DRaKHNiR

Absolutely agree. But you can get a trojan via mail that uses the open ports to communicate with his supervisor, thus inform him about your security.Originally posted by Aragorn7

That is why you gotta be careful what you open up.Originally posted by DRaKHNiR

Hmm....skymaster switch....switches shouldn't have firewalls in them. Unless yours is special. Could you include some more information?
Also, I would suggest contacting the manufacturer of the switch (preferrably by WWW) to figure out how.
Well, think what you want. I didn't make this guide to scam people. I only made this guide to spread my current knowledge about routers. I noticed that many people were having trouble with them, and decided to make this guide. So far it has helped many people.Originally posted by lonelyhomie2003
