Lightning

w00t my turn

1 > Create a new document (any size you want) but im going to use 500px by 500px with a white background.

2 > Create a white to black gradient which ever way you want your lightning to go. You can hold shift to make the gradient go 0°, 45°, 90° etc.

3 > Goto Filter>Render>Difference clouds.

4> Hit ctrl + I to invert the colours in the image.

5> Hit ctrl + L to change the levels. Move the middle slider all the way to the right.

input levels: 0 , 0.10 , 255

6> Hit ctrl + U to colourize it. And there you go, a nice and simple yet effective piece of lightning. :D

1) http://www.mccannas.com/pshop/photosh0.htm

Description: Kinda more on the newbie side. Explains things pretty well though. Good if your just starting out.

2)http://www.absolutecross.com/tutorials/photoshop/

Description: I like this one. It goes into more detail that number one, isnt so cutesy fartsy, and it has some pretty cool stuff on it. Must see for new photoshop users

3)http://www.planetphotoshop.com/tutorials.html

Description: I only would use this for its tools section because it goes into detail about what each tool does, but you can use it all if u like. It tells you how to fix bad images, wat tools do ect.

4)http://www.phong.com/tutorials/

Description: One of my favorites, i like this one a lot. Its got basics, to more advanced, and has some cool things like adding dripping slime/rust to your pic ect.

5)http://www.netcorridor.yellowpipe.com/tutorials.php

Description: On its own you wont pick up much, but use it with some stuff from these other sites (like the grid... even RIX uses the grid!) and your made!

6)http://www.rainworld.com/psworkshop/

Description: A few small goodies can be found here. Learn the tools, textures and some more goodies.

7)http://www.visualxtreme.com/tutorial1.html
