Transparency with PS7!

Seeing as how I'm still a nub at PS7, I decided to try and make something transparent (just to learn how to do it.)

I came up with this:



But, as you can see, the white isn't transparent. What I did to do this was delete the background layer (with nothing on it.. how do you make something transparent?

Yes, I know IE doesn't render .png's properly, but I could care less about the people still using an outdated, standards non-compliant hack of ActiveX controls to render websites...besides, it's their choice to see things incorrectly.
