The CEO of the development company for Torchlight II recently stated the game would ideally be released shortly after Diablo III, hoping for a month or two after Blizzard's release. This is contrary to a belief they would try to beat Blizzard to market. The CEO stated they did not want to release a game that was not properly finished and that the timing should present good coverage for their similar game that is cheaper.
He said, "Be patient. Our total development time on this game is going to be about two years, which is not unreasonably long for this type of game. We're going as fast as we can. It'll be worth the wait, it'll totally be worth the wait. In the long run, people will be happy we took this extra time," he said.
