kinda detracts from the anime as a whole.

Thats the part of the Anime that ruins it for everyone.

I watch an anime for comedy, storyline, and for the literary component of it, such as climax during the storyline, the plot, turning point, etc etc...

I still have nightmares about Ctarl Tarl. Stupid Cat thing didn't do anything but annoy viewers. I like how the Gundam series likes to kill off characters at the end of the series and saves one or two for those WTF! HOW DID HE SURVIVE! moments. (eg. Muu in Seed).

Indeed, but that line was from a mock episode. But yeah same idea. A Logengrinn from an Archangel class warship would obliterate a gundam and the pilot, Muu "sacrificed" himself to protect Romius and the Archangel from a cockpit blast. Then Romius has a crying scene like Cagalli does and counters. GG AZRAEL AND BADGARUL!
