I have the idea to allow everyone vision of the Staff forum, but only allow Staff to post in it (like it is now).

This promotes user and staff collaboration. I know some believe members are irrelevant when making big decisions or decisions for the forum in general, but this is simply wrong. The members are the ones that endure the consequences so they should have the right to know what's going on and have the right for peaceful protest.

By the idea of peaceful protest that could come from the fact that members now know what can/could happen and they could offer a form of objection or agreement through PM or as a post in a new section to staff - one where members can post in a certain format i.e.
    Code:
Title: (The same as the post in Staff)

    [quote]Quote/Issue[/quote]

    "Members opinion - expressing agreement/disagreement"
Like the above they'd have to express so in a reasonable manner without flames/trolling. Breaking the rules could be on a single strike basis and cause them to lose all Staff viewing/commenting priveleges.

If you recall almost all flaming/anger outside of The Asylum that has ever been posted (and a lot in The Asylum relative to staff/the forum) have been about things Staff did that were drastic and that members didn't even expect

    Overall,

    • Make Staff visible to all
    • Establish a sub-forum or a topic that can allow members to PM or post their opinions relative to the issues
or have the slightest bit of input on - they were essentially ignored like they basically are now. With the new changes members can know what is going on and allow their opinion to be heard.

Ultimately, this takes the great side of the Voting Forum by allowing a member voice, but keeping it tame. Staff still have the final word, but it will make decisions much easier to make without backlash as well as hopefully stop any ideas that seem good to staff, but the bulk of member opinions posted logically/reasonably disagreed with it.

This is thought with the mindset and proof that our staff throughout the years have not always been right and they never will be.

I forgot to add a poll, perhaps for the best. Someone that can could either add one for me otherwise up to that point simply post Agree/Disagree with reasoning behind said answer.

What bullshit? Nothing 'special' should be hidden unless it's going to be some benefitial surprise. For instance, a hypothetical example, is if we were to add a bunch of rules that made everything real strict then this shouldn't be hidden. There's no reason to keep it hidden since they won't have a say on what will happen or won't. Members will just know what's going on and have a say on it. If we start having important stuff hidden then it defeats the purpose of the idea. There's nothing that deserves to be hidden.

The bullshit of you just blindly being opposed to any change on this site. But you already know that you do that anyway, so whatever.

Also, as of late I'm starting to think that you're trying to build this whole "I'm the moderator of the people" persona and that you're "willing to fight the oppressors" for them because we're "all a bunch of nazi's with stupid ideas."

Good luck with that. There's a reason the staff forum is private. I could see them changing it back to how it was not too long ago where you could make and view your own threads in staff, but not the threads as a whole. Expecially if it gets to a point where we make specific threads for discussing specific members. Also, just because they can't post in staff, doesn't mean that they won't see the info and immeditally flip a shit and start posting about it in cc/anywhere else.

I changed my mind, keep it hidden, even if you do stop all your bullshit it's a terrible idea to make it public.

The fact that there even is a "staff forum" is hilarious. It should be called the volunteer forum.

Right, because the staff of this forum having somewhere that they can discuss what's going to happen is just luda, right?

It would be worth while if you guys would get things done.

No new faces = no dice.

It's like you are just re-arranging the forum with the same people in it.

The Staff Forums are where we keep all the cool porn and warez links. So, no.

We're in the process of getting things done. It doesn't happen over night. Combine that with the fact that our admin's are super slow on actually doing things, but that's neither here nor there.

It's just private stuff for staff only. Like if you walked into a store and wanted to see their stock or something... let me be more clear, everywhere else is like that, even my old WoW guild having the staff forum unaccessable.

I've backed all my reasoning with explanations. I'm not bullshitting anything. Regardless stop trying to start squabbles in the wrong place about stuff that isn't happening.

Discussion of specific members should be visible as well. Members have opinion of other members too. I already stated posts about staff topics would be posted in a specific new section or PM'ed to all staff (preferably the previous) so if it was every posted about in CC/etc. then it'd be violating the rules and they'd be in trouble.

Cool, then there's no reason for you to post in here further since your objection is based on stuff irrelevant to the topic as well as being misinformed of the topic itself (clearly you didn't read it since you started talking about posts related to the staff issues outside of the places I designated as the only places to allow it).

Hope your attempts to "get made angry and in trouble" are more successful next time. I'll be ignoring anymore of your posts in here.

Trust me, there's never been anything in Staff that deserves to be kept private and void of public opinion. Nothing.

That's nice that members have opinions of other members. Really, it is. But when it comes down to a decision of whether or not to ban a member, promote a member, destaff a member...those things really shouldn't be a concern of the rest of the member base and honestly, they shouldn't really have any say in the matter. But hey, I'm just a nazi, right?

And since so many people here are so deadset on comparing this site and how it runs to governments, I ask you, where was the peoples voice when it came to pretty big decisions in the Bush Administration? We were left in the dark about tons of changes and they were randomly just sprung upon us and we had to deal with them. We didn't get to have our say in every little thing or every topic. That's what the members of the administration (PARALLELS THE STAFF ON BATTLEFORUMS INCASE YOU DIDNT GET THE PICTURE) are for.

And look how the U.S. turned out after the Bush administration. That's really not a favorable comparison for our staff, I don't know what you're trying to prove other than my point..

I don't know what you guys have going on there now, so it would be hard to say, so I'll go with yes.
