I prefer the reaver plan (they do more damage), that always pisses off the stackhax0rs.
yeah but not every1 like to be toss so stack hack
this will really mess up their day

The photon cannon sucks indeed with its quick destruction.But no other race has such thing-to be a detector and the dmg is relatively good.That why you should always keep units in front of the cannons.But what amrtin77 says is true.I used to put them on the front and when i was surprised by lurkers frim the back or other invsisibles,i couldnt defeat them.Building inside is the best for many startegies but you should have 2-3cannons on the front too.
cannons suck in late game,you cany repair them but there mad good with rushs. Cuase unlike all the other cannons you can bulid then almost anywere when theres an plyon.
Cannon rushing, I use that as a first ditch effort to take out one comp (mostly in 4v4 - 3v5c i do it on.). But then again, you never know when a 6 ling rush comes to your door and you have no cannons defending yourself.
About the 6lr, the worst thing about cannons is they may get destroyed as they are warping in, couresty of the 6lr (6 ling rush).
depending on what u play: money or non money
in money they can help alot by buying u time to build a large enough army if u dont have one or if u are in a 2v1 for example can keep the enemy at bay with help from reavers
in non money maps they arent worth it because they are to expensive to build to many. building a couple is good for rushes or just to keep cloaks out of ur base such as observer, dt's, or ghosts

dont spores have the longest range? im not sure but it seems that way whenever theres a zerg player that uses spores
STACK 50 Cannons with a few carriers and ob= InVincable
and how do u plan on winning the game? pray the other guy gets bored that he leaves?
heres a easy way to kill "invincible" strategy
6 arbiters with statis field
freeze the carriers
bring in about 6 reavers to wipe out the cannons
then bring in scouts
i dont tihnk cannons are useless...they ar a bit weak, but one behind a pylon can stop a ling rush in early game, they are gret for detectors and to stop dropping near your minerals, they are one of the best things you can get in early game, but in late game, i don suggest doing much with em uless your expanding and need to defend an expantion....but its better to use units for that...
i use it only when i am playing bgh or have lots of money in a non-money map

Well it depends. Cannons in money heck u want em cause u got loz of money. In ladder u just need bout 4-5 for early rush. U got more on ur units and exp on ladda than cannons

Tanks, reavers, guardians, nuclear launchers, carriers (not the interceptors) a 9999/255 unit LOL! and the hero versions can safely destroy them.
Yeah its enough whit 1 or 2 cannons well i killed a big time noob once and he only worked whit his defense. I kiled him in 14 minutes so thats it!

Cannons can survive longer if pylons are in front of them, sure zealots can get in, but it will be lined and not blobbed.
