Is reaver drop worth it?

Is a two reaver drop on the eco worth it? For me, it is all depending on who you are playing, and the intelligence gathered on their base. If they have no immdeiate AA then I say yes. But if they have like a turret or two anywhere near them, I'd say no. your thoughts?

Unless you are with a ton of Reavers, no. Simply because there are too many AA buildings around, and people will be wise to it.

Fun to hit a bunch of Zerglings with them though. :D

Oh yes, archons+reavers own most melee units. But I was saying like a two reaver drop, something easy and quick to make.

You'd have to distort your build order to tech fast, and once u go for the reaver drop you'll have to really make it work, and take out their econ or at least slow them down severly. If not, you're ****ed.... the way (most) people do it is tech fast to reavers, and drop reavers and zealots or goons. I dont particually do this strat mainly because if you want to hit them early and fast, well you get the picture.

reaver drops are pretty good in all mus.
If it's pvt, then load 2 zeals along with the reaver and goon rush him. Make sure you expand while you're harassing him, though.
If it's pvz and I did an early expand build, you can catch zerg overpowering with a reaver drop plus corsair escort.
If it's pvp, use your imagination.peon lines, etc)

it's ok to tech in pvt. the matchup kinda revolves around it.

most terrans go vults before tanks so reaver drops are good. if he gets a tank, that's what the 2 zeals are for. terran tries to kill the reaver with spider mines as I pick it up and drop it somewhere else and bring in the goons as you're wasting mines on the reaver.

to akule's comment: like I said before, sair/reaver is to catch zerg overpowering(many of them will against a fast expand build) and win the game outright. You'll hit the zerg pretty hard with a fast expand into sair/reaver(you could even throw in speedzeals for good measure) I'm not saying it ALWAYS works(nothing ever does), but it's a good opening build.

Reavers are awesome. Their great for taking out their workers with that splash. I like to do a quick drop take out and take out all their workers and reatreat. Also good for takin out unguarded expansions. Best part is you don't need that many to do massive dmg.

Tiger, you should have at least added why you don't agree. That's considered spamming, because you added nothing to the topic. You'll get away of this one without an official warning, but don't this again.

Anyway, reavers don't really own tanks. Specially if the tanks are sieged.

Destroying an eco-system would be better done with several dts destroying workers, several archons, or several templars. By the time your able to support building just 2 reavs completly uped, they'll destroy them before serious damage is done.

I don't think people even get scarab or capacity upgrades for their reavers because they aren't worth it. I drop with 1 reaver and 2 zealots so the shuttle arrives earlier if I went 2 reavers.

Tru that peonix, I'll keep that in mind next time. When I do it, I'll post two replays. One where I drooped two and one where I went 1 and 2 zealots :).

I only Reaver drop when NOT vsing Zerg. Because the Zerg could possilby rush. And i always scout before dropping, and i usually do a one-Reaver drop on the eco. It has only ever failed once, because of a 6-pool ling rush. (That's when i found out not to Reaver drop-tech against Zerg).

Against terran, it's better to go 1 reaver + 2 zealot against a good player (good defense). For DTs to work, it sometimes depends on luck so that's risky. After harrassing, just go back to base with the reaver and load the other one so that you have 2. With the shuttle speed upgrade, you can destroy tanks(let one hit you, then two shots = kill) and turrets. Just make sure they don't die because later you can land them outside their base to prevent any vulture raids...

With the shuttle, you can also load 4 zealots and kill the tanks on the cliff (if he has any) and then send the dragoons. The purpose of the terran wall is to keep out protoss units because they're too powerful, just send in 4 zealots over the wall and see what happens.

Usually to defend this, I make 3 marines at the beginning (to fight that dragoon while my tank is coming out) and then a few more. I make a bunker near my eco, and near my tanks on the cliff. It seems paranoid and a waste of time, but trust me... when you're dealing with a true gosu, he'll abuse your weakness so it's 100% worth it.
