I've always wondered-

What the hell is the purpose of hippos? It's like 4 or 5 food for a crappy air unit that looses its awesome melee attack against air. The range is good, but I never found Hippos to be all that great. I despise air at all.

I hate air as much as you do, but I still use it whe I need it. Actually, hippos are aerial slaughters, unless you manage to snare them to the ground and pick them off with wyvern focus fire. However, hippos aren't very fun to use vs ud and tend to be killed easily once grounded.

Hippos dont need roar to beat gargs at all, the ratio of well-microed hippos to gargs is 8 to 11.
