If you paid any attention to Act 2, you find at the end that the dark wanderer, corrupted by Diablo's soulstone went to the Tomb of Tal'Rasha to free his brother Baal, and allow further chaos to ensue on the mortal realm. Mephisto, Baal, and Diablo were the three most powerful evils, and as strength comes in numbers, he freed his brother from his eternal bonds, then escaped.

Tyreal, who had been there, tried to prevent Diablo from doing this, but failed as that little bastard following Diablo around undid his bonds. All of this occuring just before you show up as well.

Basically Blizzard led up to the expansion by initiating it's plotline in the original game. Granted the storyline isn't anything new in LoD. Just a completely different world with monsters using some Druid spells, and harder monsters. However Baal was much more of a challenge than Diablo or Mephisto.

hmm........the soulstones are shards of the worldstone themselves. When the worldstone is destroyed, and its energy/ability/whatever you wanna call it is deactivated. Then the soulstone of baal stops working, and his spirit can manifest again. and another thing. Baal shattered his own stone before he was imprisoned, but it still worked. Therefore, even though the hellforge has magical properties, it is in hell and therefore don't you think the prime evils could manipulate it to herlp them escape? and if they didn't escape, there were shards, which probably wtill hold their power with the sould of diablo and meph inside. until the worldstone is destroyed, and then they are released again. All three, who can ressurect the forces of evil easily, as well as the two lesser evils that died. Now they have time to rebuild their forces to make a major attack agianst sanctuary or heaven. IN fact, the battle agianst heaven is what this is all about. I believe that in one of the guides, it says that the two sides were evenly matched, and so thus began the race for the sides of men. They believed that whoever had men on their side would be able to win. plus, wiht tyreal dead, they have the advantage. how's that?

wow good point i gess that would be true but how would help them and now they have no army and no one to go into so it would be awile befor they made there returne to our would and even if they do they where betten twice now and would be realy pissed at every one and most of the the people that help to kill the three evils would be gone and if they do come out with a d3 they should let you choss what side you would be on like if you want to be on the evil side you could be an evil sorc or if you wanted to be on the good side you could be a holy sorc and so on that they way i would hope they would make the d3 if they decided to

well it says that mephisto is the oldest, and diablo is thge youngest of all prime evil. this is how i understand it: mephisto, the hatred, was spawn in the depths of hell itself. now, if you hate someone, you want to destroy them and hurt them, right? so if there is hatred, it brings destruction. now, with destruction, there is terror caused. when you see and experience the terror, you build up hatred and the circle starts all ober again. thats why a person can never truly kill all of the prime evil. i dont know about the lesser evils, but pain (Duriel) is caused by hatred and destruction both, and then anquish (Andariel) is also as a result of those 2. I dont knpow about the other 2 lesser evils belial and azmodan, but i remeber once i saw a website, and it listed the devils names. 2 of them were belial and asmodan, so those 2 obiously must be something special. i dont know about you, but i think it is pretty logical, dont you think?

i was certain that when i watched the cinematic i heard a scream, and that must have been tyrael. and when he destroyed the worldstone, he threw his sword in, and what would he be without his sword?

Well here is my idea.

d2 and 1 half finished off with tyrael looking baddass with funky middle-eastern dramatic music playing. Didnt one of the NPC's say that if the worldstone is the only thing keeping the demons from unleashing total havoc upon mankind?

So Diablo II continues into d3 with WAR! yep, pure unsaturated war. As the demons flood the world it starts with Mt. Arreat and slowly goes down. So that would be our starting town. Huge armies of man and angel and demons are there. As they slowly kill each other senslessly...man well becomes nearly extinct. But a few special humans rise from the ashes of their brethren. (That would be our new classes.) Soon the weight of Heaven and Hell pulls to Hell and demon's spill out into other parts(there we would have our acts) with a Demon Lord(i like the sound of that) leading them. Izual(yes i kno u freed his soul but he got recorrupted i guess?) Balil, Blackthorn, and...Illidan and a few nameless other ones. The Prime Evils this time would be Diablo, Anbuu, and Bhaal. Mephisto is useless plus he looks geeky. i mean noone wants to kick a demons ass...that doesnt have an ass to kick in the first place, although he does give good loot sometimes...anywho (a.d.d=me) btw, thats anal dysfunction disease....i think.

So Tyrael is nowhere to be found...where is he? Ill tell you. He is the Hero. After his corporeal body is destroyed by the shards of the worldstone he finds a new body. ie you. Also several other angels have inhabitated the bodies of the soon to be heroes. So the heroes do not know anything about the angels, and the angels are dormant btw. As time passes they realize that they have angels inhabiting their souls. Virgil would be one i love that name :D Alaxander, Tyrael, and Hadrial. As time passes, also they begin to change...the angels need their original bodies so they change the heroes bodies to the angelic types. That would be in hell...also thered be a kewl cinematic 4 it too :D. and then you would defeat Diablo for the last time. Or so you thought! 600 years pass after the hero defeats Diablo. And every year they celebrate the day the human-angel allies won that war. But on the 666th year another evil terrorizes the world. (Act III IV and V) But noone knows who or what is! All of the world is clueless...even the angel dont know. An archeologist found the reforged soulstone of a demon. the demon, apparently, forged itself a stone before diablo got defeated, stored his soul and hurled it into the sea hoping sme1 would find. Then you play through a semi futuristic world that still uses diablo weapons. and not guns or nuclear bombs or anything super uber....ok im done ranting now, its hard to concentrate with a porn vid playing right next to the monitor...

I dont think that this game will ever be created, i mean really evil is dead, world will never be the same, that type crap was said by Andariel and no one got pierced, scratched or pocked by any soul crystals so i realyy dont see any way for this to begin all over again.
