How To Make Custom Sprays By YeGreatOne

As you might of seen in game, many players
now use custom sprays. Installing and even
making them is an easy process.

1. Sprays can only be certain sizes, a graph i
s show on the bottom of
http://www.counterspray.com/makeyourown.htm.

1b. I prefer 144x80, as it is a nice balance
and looks very big in game. (In the program
we will use the sizes can be changed
automatically and if you over the pixel
limit you will be warned)

2. You can either make your own spray,
or you can download some from my site

or simply search www.google.com
for counter-strike sprays.

3. Now you have to download
"Half-Life Logo Creator", *it is attached to the bottom of the tutorial.*

3b. Download it, install, and then open the program.

4. Now go to open, and open your picture
(BitMap file type is the best). You should
now see your picture in the middle work
area. You can now use the tools to make
your picture look better (sharpen tool
is very useful).

4b. Now, if your picture is too big or small
you can change the sizes in the "Image Width"
and "Image Length" control boxes (make
sure bottom bar does not turn red).

5. When you are finished with your picture
on the bottom select counter-strike (just
check the little box in the bottom left corner)
or you can put it in another file destination
and then change the pldecal file (name of the
file created. But, the program does this automatically
when you select counter-strike so i wont go more in depth.

6. Now the last part is testing. Go in the game,
WAIT a minute or two to make sure the server
uploads the spray image, and then test it,
it should all work fine.

...you could just use Wally's color spray wizard. It works wonders with making the pldecal.wad file. I found that the logo creator just makes the file 0kb.

thats a site for well it changes bitmaps or jpgs forget which one or mayb both into the pdcal file
as for the dimentions make it wat ever u want just not do big other wise its very pixely

NEVER GO INTO YOUR CUSTOMIZE OPTION!!!!!!

if you wanna change your name use console....if you go to customize you must replace your wad file again

Or you can just change your name using hlsw. Thats probably the easiest thing.

Yea, it was there on the read me file.

Now, this probably is in the wrong forum, but ah well. How do I write my name in the console with spaces? In urban Terror it is "nnn nn nnn", but it doesn't seems to work here.

Oh, and how the hell do I make the two points ( : )?

You must put everything in quotes, like you did above. In console, you'd type name "nnn nn nnn" and whatever is between the quotes will be your name.

An other thing

It seems that the spray doesn't stays there for long. It shows for about one minute, but goes away right away... I've once sprayed it in the beggining of the turn, and in the next turn it wasn't there.

Is there a way to make it stay for more time?

In console, try r_decals 1000. The reason they disappear is probably because bulletholes and other decals fill up your decal limit, and once it fills up, the oldest decals disappear.

Ok, one other thing.. You see, the computer is shared, and my brother plays CS as well. Guess what, he went to the customize menu to change the name...

Ok, now, according to RiX, all I had to do is to re-do the decal, right? But for some reason, it doesn't work. I do it, replace the decal with the program, but when I go to a game and press T, an other decal appears.

So... what's happenign? By the way, I tried it today again, and I tested it on a LAN game. In the end of the loading, something like "Ignored Invalid decal something by SyriuS" (which happens to be me).

hey i have a question i know how to use the HLLC (HL Logo creator) but when ever i do it and install it and spray my spray it comes out upside down.......

and how do you make he pics clear like if your using a pic from a game or something

I used the decal converter and i replaced PLDECAL.WAD with the origanal one but when i join a game it says all this wierd stuff like wat happened to trongamonga...

How do I fix this please help me.

Weird, I've never seen that error. If you get it working again, go into your \cstrike folder and copy the pldecal.wad file. That way, if it gets overwritten again, simply delete the pldecal.wad file and replace it with the copy of your custom spray's wad file.

It wouldn't replace it, it'd just get a small yellow picture of the HL logo.

However, I downloaded the Half-Life Logo Creator, and it worked smoothly.

I was using the program Miles posted, and it had that error.
