Here are some problems that will twist your minds. Just post your answers.

Problem 1. You want to buy a pair of shoes that costs $97. You have no money. So you borrowed $50 from two friends. You went to the counter and paid $100 to the cashier and you got a change of $3. You gave $1 each to your two friends that you owe some. Then the time comes you paid the remaining balance of those two friends $49 each. So let's sum up your money. $49+$49=$98, right? Then you add the one dollar which you kept to $98. So $98+$1(which you kept)=$99. So where's the remaining $1?

Problem 2. You are on a ship with a chicken. The ship sank and your chicken was eaten by small fishes. They bit the big chicken until the remains of the chicken was washed to shore along with the fishes still biting and eating the the parts of the chicken. A seagull came along and ate all the fishes. Now, what is bigger than the three?

This is a trick question because you didn't include sales tax. Meaning the cost, depending on ur location, is going to be over 100$

No it's in General. Don't convert it or anything. Leave the money the way it is.

Problem 1: The reason ist that you've already given $1 each to your friends, so technically speaking, the $98+$2(that are with your friends) should be there, adding to a total to $100. But when you add that extra $1, it sums up to $101 eventually unless I'm wrong (gah...too complicated :()

Problem 2: the ship?

1.well, you had 100, paid 97, leaving with 3. 2 go to friends, leaving iwth 1. you pay each of them 49, which gives them their total 50.. so that $1 is from the remaining change from when you bought the shoe.

2. bigger than 3?well certainly a lion is bigger

There is no extra remianing dollar its one of theos few questions that seem out of place when everything is just fine.

K, Mave, the $1 is nowhere, if you ask me. You made me stay up all night thinking about it 'cos I couldn't sleep. The $98 is the amount of cash you need to give out, right? So why do you ADD the $1? You already have $1, so you SUBTRACT it. You need to raise $97 to pay off the other two. There's no need to get to $100, 'cos you'll be having extra, 'sides, you paying them interest?

That's what I think anyway.

The second one is so easy.... The seagul is the biggest obviously. The fish ate the chicken making them bigger, and the seagul ate the fish which contained the chicken. So technically the seagul ate the chicken and the fish making him the biggest mass wise.
