Closed or Banned????

Hey, my acc, luckily wasn't "closed" it just said my CD-Key was banned,so I had more lying around and I got another, but my friend's said his acc was "closed.
When he tries to log on it says:

"This account is closed (8)"

Can anyone tell me what the (8) means? Is that perhaps days?
Please give me some info.
