BEFORE YOU POST READ THIS (plz sticky)

k, here are some guidlines for posting in this section. please folow them, it will make life easyier for everyone.

  • Do you have a legal copy of a) halflife of b) Retail Counter Strike?
If the answer is no do not even think about posting here.
  • If you attempt to reinstall the game, make sure you do a clean reinstall. To do this, you must uninstall the game and delete the game folder before reinstalling it. Before you reinstall, you can copy your downloaded maps and models from your game directory to a different directory to be moved back later.
  • Is your system actually good enough to run counter strike?
I do not know what the minimum system reqs are, but you will be wanting at least a 300Mhz CPU, 64 MB of RAM and a Voodoo 2 or greater to run it decently. if u dont have that, get with the times and get a new computer.
  • The latest version of counter strike is 1.6, it is no longer 'beta', it is an official release. to play 1.6 you need a program called steam. it is like gamespy or allseeing eye but it only supports valve games. steam can be aquired from www.steampowered.com. many places allow you to download steam aswell as the CS cache in one go (much better then downloading steam and letting it download the cache). simple go www.google.com and search for steam and cs cache. should find u the file u need.
  • Have you got the latest Drivers?
get the latest drivers for your videocard. for nVidia cards (GForce) go here and for ATI (Radeon range) go here.
ge the latest for your soundcard, there are many soundcard makers around but one of the most common is creative. here is a link for their drivers.
  • have you reinstalled your drivers?
if you do have your latest drivers, try reistalling them. this does not mean installing of the last install, go to add/remove progrmas in the control panel, remove your current ones, then reinstall them.
  • Do you have the latest version of DirectX?
To check your version of DirectX, open your Start menu and click RUN and type dxdiag in the prompt. You can get the latest version of directx at http://www.microsoft.com/directx.
  • Do you have latest windows updates?
go to www.windowsupdate.com, the rest is self explanitory
  • i will add anything else i think of or that others recomend

If you need help, be sure to include as much of the following as you can:
  • CPU
  • OPERATING SYSTEM
  • GRAPHICS CARD
