What do you suppose that ship might be? The big, fortress looking space craft that seems bigger then a planet up close, that does the independance day laser like theres no tomorrow! I say, that it's Xel'Naga. Why? Well, the ship is blue, and there's no other major force discussed in Starcraft besides the 3 playable races and the mysterious and enigmatic Xel'naga. The ship also resenbles the Xel'naga Building that you see and need to protect in Brood War. That's my guess, though.

What do you think it is?

To tell you the truth, I don't remember the cinema. Brood War's was so much better anyway. Is it perhaps a Carrier or Battlecruiser?

Oh my goodness! As I was typing this memories of Starcraft 64 (and the worst CG cutscene ever) just popped into my head. I always thought it was some Protoss mothership which the Terran were engaging for the first time.

It is a Protoss Carrier (or any type of Protoss Capital Ship) with a weapon that is not used in the games because it has the capabilites of making the entire planet lifeless, which is stupid, because then the game would end in a tie if it was used in B.Net :p

How could it be a Carrier? They don't even look the same, the ship was a light blueish color and a Carrier is far from blue. It wasn't a Carrier I think, because it would have been noticable if it was, I think. It resembles a flying nexus, though.

Well I'm almost positive it was a Protoss ship even though it looked like no playable ship.

Carriers are yellow in the outside. They're blue in the inside, if I'm not mistaken. Check the last movie of the Original campaign (the sacrifice of Tassadar) to confirm.

But why would Blizzard do that? Mysterious and guessing aside, I don't see any good reason to relate it to a race you can totally play as in the game. Bascally everything you've seen in the CG Sequences you can actually play with in the actual game, so why would they bring something that you couldn't play with? Something that does a really nat attack and destroys a Terran Ship?

It can't be Xel'Naga, since they're extinct of the Galaxy :p

It's Protoss.
