Elemental Shamans

How do you level one? I mean, how do you kill the mobs? I have to keep drinking, and for someone who leveled a mage to 70, not having free water is teh sucks.

So, how do you do it efficiently?

It gets easier once you have 5/5 lightning mastery. You can pump out 3 lightning bolts and shock once or twice then melee them to death. I find myself refreshing lightning shield alot.

I stacked alot of int/spr gear (While trying not to gimp my stamina) so i wouldn't have to drink as much. It helps sometimes. Your best friend is spell crits. Clearcasting owns.

The correct answer is to lvl enhance and respec at 70.

If you're dead set on lvling elem (I have no idea why you would be), just be really careful about pulling since you have no cc, drop mana totems, and no matter what Jason said spirit really does help. I could usually regen most of my mana while I was skinning/looting whatever I'd just killed, provided I had killed it pretty quickly and I had mana spring down.

Yeah, I am enhancement, am already colecting some melee dps mail gear for when I hit 40 (soon), but was still wondering because people like Ranzo leveled elemental and it bugs me

I got from 25-35ish as elem. I'd cast mana spring + stoneskin, possibly a searing if i needed the extra dps, try to pull one mob at a time with lightning bolt (you can usually get 2 or 3 in depending on the distance/whether you have storm reach and lightning mastery), then just melee and frost shock to death. Totemic recall after I was finished looting the corpse and by the time I was ready to kill another mob I usually had pretty decent mana and health. It gets a lot harder as you level though.

lol at leveling as elemental. Arn't shamans spirit broken in casting? mp/5 > spirit imo. Respec at 40 or 50 or so, from enhance, it'll go a lot faster. The first 30 level or so will be hell on you until you get some decent gear.

I never said to neglect spirit, I just said that it's not really needed to be focused upon. A lot of int gear comes with spirit already (if not stamina). If you have enough int you don't even need a lot of spirit because your mana pool won't run out.

I noticed that spirit kinda scaled poorly with mana regen for shamans. I failed to ever admit it to myself though

True. I think I had like 3 pieces of mp/5 equipment.

Man, I dunno. I had pretty rad mana regen with spirit, mp/5, high int, and unrelenting storm. But my stam sucked and without any cc I got pissed at accidentally pulling 2 mobs and having to earthbind/run away all the time. In instances though, with a tank, even at the level I was, was usually first or second dps while healing as needed, and had nearly full mana all the time.

When you get higher and get better gear with Lightning Overload and Clearcasting you'll only be spending around 1/4 of your mana every couple of mobs..possibly 1/2 by the 5th or so, but that's with good gear. If you have mediocre gear you'll get around 5 mobs dead and use up all your mana, but it's still pretty nice.
