Story of World of Warcraft?

Hey Everyone,
I know this will probably sound stupid but.... I was wondering if there is even a storyline to World of Warcraft. I'm very new to it, and being a veteran of the Diablo series and Guild Wars, I'm used to a main storyline to follow in an RPG but I have yet to find that in WoW. My question is, is there one? and if so when does it start because I'm lvl 10 and so far all the quests I've gotten is some NPC telling me to drop off a bunch of stuff off at another NPC.
Thanks for the help

theres not much of a story. a lot of the stuff is just based off the lore, and it's a continuation of the other warcraft games.

Alright thanks for the info, maybe it would be a good idea for me to play Warcraft III and all of its expansions before really getting into WoW then.

it doesnt make much of a difference unless you like the story more than the gameplay. it doesnt make much of a difference in gameplay.

There is an excellent stroyline in Warcraft, unfortunately it doesn't transition to WoW very well. You can read the storyline at http://worldofwarcraft.com/info/story/ Also there are books located all around the world that reveal different parts of the story.

Warcraft 3 was the only other warcraft game i played and it's not having any negative effect on my playing. The "story" in this game is told through short quests especially at 60 such as the Hydraxian Warlords quest lines and most of the Plaguelands but aside from that, there isn't a real story but rather an open ended atmosphere where your character advances through many trials.

This was one of my biggest problems when I use to play WoW. I use to always be like "WTF am I doing, and why?".
