Gryphons are very effective agains orcs! 6-7 of them can easily wipe out orc burrows in seconds when their armour is heavy. So as soon as the enemy finds out that you have gryphons you can disable his change of strat by attacking his burrows...I was really surprised when i found this tactic out. The burrows are destroyed SOOO easily they even get damaged from storm hammer. Make sure to micro the gryphons though!
Suggestions?
I had an old strat with foots + casters and directly griffs. If he doesnt expect them he's gg. Gruntapult cannot counter griffs and they are best vs taurens/spirit walkers. But if he knows how to counter you and isnt that newb he would kill them with some bats. Bats are bult fast and he can mass enough of them to kill your griffs. Indeed with good micro you can save some griffs but you'll have losses anyway. You cant escape from all bats.
yeah thats really true...bats crap on gryphons :lucifer
BUT, you can stop him from making them if you destroy his burrows! you will have to have at least like 5-6 gryphons though...
If you get gryphons before he even gets a beastery(usualy they may just got lodge and taurens) and you have gryphons you won. Bats don't deal that much magic though, and if u do face bats a few hawks may take them out depending on who the faster clicker is
K guys i saw the replay , no offend but that orc guy wasn't much of a player. How can u forget your peons in the burrows , or to die with 2000 gold , and worst to allow your opponent to make an army of gryphons?
This is incredible what was he going to do with so many shamans?
yeah maybe you are right but...i just wanted to show you how effective gryphons are...no matter how good the other orc player is! I am also not a very good player compared to the rest...but yet i managed to win very easily.
hmmm
any decent orc gets raiders against human to ensnare the AM / rifles
and if he has enough army, taurens will completely rape your ensnared air... =(
you cannot let him get the beastiary still this matchup is for ORC.
there's a reason for mixing some bats on the army. bats deal 400 dmg to a target and 140 on area, meaning that they will be effectiva against REAL MASSES. if the human guy has like 20 gryphons, u won't really be able to kill them only with ensnare. just send 6-8 bats and now they are 2/3 dead, and the rest is badly hurt.
raiders are a very good solution. I dont know why they go bats instead!
Because the bats are pure anti-air nuke. The raiders are good but they are more of a tactical unit because of attack type, ensnare and high speed movement, his armor type allows him to take reduced magic damage although not so many hp makes them vulnerable. I think the orc in ground melee combat is invincible because of grunt, tauren and spell accesories.
In my opinion the raider is effective only against NE.
