Faster? stronger?

I have a small problem; this may either be technical or on the user's end.

I am, to say the least, slow. I somehow never managed to get my units produced on time, and have about 1 or 2 idle wisps whenever the tree is cranking them out. This also affects my ability to micro or focus fire since I'm too busy trying to figure out what the heck is going on, or which unit to focus...then when I find one, uh oh...it got away. Are there any excercises I can do to get faster with these things?

Play a lot. :]

Playing against the computer can be fun, too. He's not too smart but it's good micro-training. Or try the Micro Arena map, watch replays from pro players and try to learn their building orders, that way you will become a master of early game micromanagement but you'll blow in late game, just like me.

Micro arena will never truely get you anywhere.

If you have idel wisps, it should only be after they have built something. Rally points will speed up unit movement, and much production. A tree should always have wisps rallied to the trees. Even if u mean to build a building with a wisp, it is better to have ur wisp initialy build and rallied to the trees. Reason is the wisp will be adding to collection until you are able to click over and tell ur wisp to build. If you do not know, left clicking when a building is selected will rally a built unit to the desired location (be it on a tree, or on a unit.)

Which leads me to somehting else, You should never be idle. Always moving. this will be hard at first, but you should never start the building of a wisp, and wait tfor it to finish jsut to build a building. You should be doing something else, while that wisp builds, be it creeping, scouting, attacking etc. Sitting in your base is something you should never, ever do.

Micro wins battles in warcraft III, counters help your micro, but ultiamtely micro is the counter to everyhting. Better Micro will always win. Micro Arena does nothign for micro. It is jsut the same matches. Only wy to speed up is know what to move, what to focus, and how to split ur army into groups. Only way to improve it overall is to constantly play. If you do not like losing, or do not want a Battle.net account with alot of losses. Use a dummy account, a practise account. practise as much as possible. Save all your replays, especialy ones u lose on.

Here is the trick, games you lose are much more valuable then ones you win on. Winning replays provide nothing but boasting rights over another player. Losing replays will help you understand exactly how you lost. where you lost, how you lsot, the play style of your opponent. Take what your opponents did, and twist it for your own play style.

have fun!?

Hey I think my thread is out of place again, but do u know where I can find replays against computers? I think they would be interesting. I'm interested in the max number of computers that one can beat ( I cannot beat more than 3 normal , or 1 normal + 1 insane).

Also move wisps all over the perimeter of your base. So you can scout for enemies.

Too many words and nothing

SHIFT makes wonders. Build , hold shift click on a tree/mine. Attack injured by clicking on 2 injured holding shift. Use shift to scout and return, to move unit in a certain path etc.. Use ALT and you can hold it with shift to see injured and rally the. (btw turn your flex type in Windows off if it makes problems with the hp bars).

Nah no way. Is that what you in Azeroth do ? Or what below lvl 30 do ? Like first hero Paladin.Thats lame. Wow very useful just see how he does without brilliance. See good people from all realms use heroes 1/2/3 AM/MK/pally, not Pally/BM / Tavern hero or orc goes FS/TC vs hum and UD, FS/SH vs orc. Or why UD goes DK/lich/Crypt lord or DL.They have tried and it is clear that these are the best choices. We exclude any cases in which they decided to try a Beast Master or FL, just in general. You'd better play like them. I thought an UD playing some fiends is lame too. Thats what they do in Azeroth and in Northrend high lvls do mass ghouls and dests and aboms, few spiders later to stop griffs but not mass fiends in tier 1 (as in Azeroth). Because foots cant be microed so good vs spiders that are healed and can burrow and can run fast enough, but spiders cannot be saved vs AOE and morts. They can die easily and ghouls too but ghouls are tier 1 with which you can do serious harasses on expands.. etc.

Micro arena helps only when you dont use air and the start is to make counter of the unexpected. These versions are stupid when you make an army of mixed races. Also arenas with air (look! I have wyrms griffs and gargs!) are n00b games. Micro wars is where high lvl players enter but it is different because in a real game you dont have small space to move away units.

And you Pan, had some words I used to have on my acca when I played Azeroth a year and a half ago-every win is another number, every loss is experience.

It is also possible to be TOO slow when you havent played for a long time. I personally tp slowlier after not playing for a week and actually i get killed before i use it. While when im trained i follow everything like if he's going to kill my hero with a spell like coil, nova, chain lightning or makes a lot of damage too fast and i can see if i'll have the time to tp when clicking the num pad 7.

Do you have high APM ? Well you dont have to, it doesnt make you better. (although i make this also)

No idea what you're talking about, perhaps you didnt understand what I was saying, Im just saying you'd be better off playing another game rather than watching replays and go "woo, I can do that for sure!!". Practices = successful, and failure = you gain experience (personal experience... not expereience for ladder -_-), and you learn to correct your mistakes.

ITs all get altar and a farm at the start. So you can train more workers and have a hero for the rush. Then get the barracks when you get enough money. That should get you going. A fast expo will work for you thats for sure.

Part of it is just staying on your toes...You should have hotkeys for your units and heroes....and you should have a pretty basic BO for the beggining of games. IF you do it properly there should only be a wisp idle for like 4 secs....
